Her Life

Obituary

April 16, 2015

“If an old pair of pants is torn, don’t throw them out: I will make baby-doll clothes out of them.”

Pamala Ruth (Bedingfield) Talkington, an angel on Earth, earned her Heavenly wings (undoubtedly meticulously sewn to perfection) on April 13, 2015 at the age of 65. Her kind, generous and creative spirit are woven into the fabric of her children and grandchildren’s lives through the many life lessons and spiritual teachings she poured onto them, among them:  an old pair of pants still has purpose. Use them for baby doll clothes, place mats or cleaning cloths.

Also: Always keep various types of pet food on hand. Stray animals make loyal pets if you feed them well. All of God’s creatures deserved to be loved, except maybe snakes. And, a cat really can be the true love of your life.

Life is unfair but cakes make life sweater. So bake a cake every week to add deliciously calming smells to your home and intoxicatingly sweet flavors to your palate. But, let the butter and eggs cool to room temperature first!

Getting dirty cleanses the soul. Monies budgeted for therapy are best spent on flowers.

Designate a time every week to dance the jig to classic rock with your children. They will grow up with the tools to express themselves creatively.

Give and do for others, even if they don’t deserve it. Give and do more for others who really deserve it. Sometimes a little bit of help goes a long way.

Feed everyone who comes over. Sharing home-cooked meals has medicinal powers and bonding agents and creates opportunities for fellowship.

Never shy, Pam struck-up conversations with just about everyone she met, sharing her lessons and teachings along the way.  Often those conversations were impactful. Sometimes they were confusing. But, they were ALWAYS entertaining.

A native of Bossier City, La. and resident of Hemphill, Tx., Pam’s spirt lives on in those she left behind: her husband, Steve; her (step) daughter, Nicole Thomas, and husband, Michael; her (step) son, Landon Talkington; her grandchildren, Presley, Lilian, Lauren and Hudson; her sister-in-law, Liz Bedingfield; her sister-in-law, Genie Talkington, and husband, Ken; her brother-in-law, Arthur (Bo) Talkington, and wife, Kim; her nephew, Barret; her great-niece, Macy; and the too numerous to list extended family, loving neighbors and friends.

She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, Jimmy and Daisy Bedingfield; brother, Jimmy Bedingfield, Jr.; nephew, Trey Bedingfield; and many, many pets- specifically Garfield, Wolfie, Dottie and Bo.

The family will be holding a private “Remembrance Gathering” at her (step) daughter’s home on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 6pm.

Friends and extended family will be invited to join the family in the spreading of her ashes at a “Final Goodbye” ceremony in Texas.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family are encouraged to plant a tree in her memory or participate in creating Pam’s remembrance garden by gifting a plant or tree to her family in her honor through Seeds of Life (www.seedsoflife.com). These can be mailed to 620 Cala Lilly Ln., Wake Forest, NC 27587.
