A GOD's GENERAL

Daddy, you are indeed a General of God.
I remember vividly the first incident that drew my attention to the kind of person you were in God's vineyard: The Church speakers got "burnt" on one Sunday in 1999. While we were deliberating on how to have them repaired, you brought in new and bigger set of speakers on Tuesday.

In days and years that followed, you touched my heart more through other greater impacts you made in God's vineyard which are conspicuous in all the Parishes where you worked. From single handedly financing church building to single handedly sponsoring establishment of many Parishes through Let's Go Fishing program.

I must say I am blessed to have worked with you in the vineyard of God. You showed me a new level of commitment to God's work. Of the truth, you were a good Leader: simple, truthful, passionate and committed to God's work. Your ways are worthy emulation. I thank God for your life that was well spent in Him. The legacy you left behind lives on.

Sleep well in the Lord Daddy.

My first Boss, my dear Engineer Sam Lumor, you will be greatly missed.

Your famous motto, "do something right the first time all of the time" has been my driving force all my career. You help to mold me from a raw graduate engineer to a professional.

You were not only my Lead Process Engineer/Manager, you were a father figure to me. Your fatherly advice has helped me not only in my career but in my family life.

May your gentle soul continue to rest in peace. AMEN

I only worked with his daughter Shalewa but he took in my children; gave them the opportunity to have the feel of a Christian gran pa: their visits to him was really precious. He was gracious , merciful, with him psalm 85 verse 19 was manifested in flesh.
I know it is a glorious home call for him but I will miss him..

Although you were initially my boss at NETCO where I report to you directly. The relationship grew and it became a father-son relationship. You were a mentor, a teacher with an ardent quest for excellent performance. I will always remember your support and assistance as I was growing up as young engineer in NETCO.
Your dedication and commitment to God was enviable. I remember I once asked you what would you be doing after retirement? You said what else would you do other than dedicate your remaking life to God’s service. You kept to that promise till you breathe your last breath.
We thank God for being such a wonderful gift to the kingdom of our Lord.
Sleep on daddy Lumor till we meet to part no more
Goodnight my big boss

Quite a shocking news indeed. Just few weeks back you celebrated your birthday. I never met you in person, but in your children that i knew(Shalewa and Funmi) one could tell the breed that you were. A disciplined man and a Child of God. Your family will indeed miss you, but heaven has gained you Sir.

We feel their pains at this moment, but i know time will heal. May God protect and keep your wife you left behind and grant you all the fortitude to bear the loss

I was opportuned to work with daddy in RCCG LP13 when I served there as Accountant and he was a father indeed that genuinely cared about our wellbeing, always jovial and generous with his gifts. Even 8 years after my moving on to another Province, he still shares videos and messages with me on whatsapp. I pray his good works will continue to speak for him. May the Lord comfort mummy and the entire family.

Daddy Lumor, you are a role model, an encourager, a cheerful giver, man full of love and care, a man of God and lover of God's children. Daddy I can't forget your previous visitation to our house unannounced with fruits for Marvelous and Gabu Gabu as you fondly called my son. My neighbours referred to you as my hubby daddy in our compound. Thanks for the training my hubby received from you.

Daddy we always remember your songs like:
1. Do you love this family, I love this family of God........

2. We give thanks to God halleluyah........

3. I will praise you from everlasting everlasting to everlasting.....

ARE YOU IN THE LORD'S ARMY? YES SIR!

Daddy continue to rest in the bossom of our Lord.

Daddy you were a rare gem. You were indeed a blessing to me and my family. I remembered in 2008 few weeks after my weeding you saw me about to buy kerosene to take home for my wife to cook with, you said no way and immediately arranged for a gas cylinder filled with gas. Daddy that act of kindness really meant a lot to me and my wife and we still remembered it like yesterday.

You were also an example to us the younger generation showing us the need to love God and serve God.

I remembered your message back in RCCG Glory Model titled good night or good bye. Daddy, I say good night and I know you are resting in the bosom of the Lord.

Tribute by Siblings:

Our brother, Pastor Lu, as we affectionately call him is no more. It is with heavy heart and very deep sense of lost that we write this tribute in wishing him farewell.

We know this moment is inevitable for humans but we never thought you will leave us soon. When you were sick, we shared your pain with you and prayed with you to see you get well soon. Sampson, why did you have to leave us soon? We knew the pains and sufferings you went through were unbearable but we had hope that you will get well soon.

We prayed. Pastors also prayed for your recovery. But who are we to question God? “For we know your thoughts are not our thoughts, neither your ways, our ways”. He took your hands and said “my son, come and rest”.

Your departure has brought us great pains and our eyes are filled with tears. We have asked lots of questions. We keep remembering every moment with you including this song you taught us the last time we met you.

“Yahweh, your name is Yaweh…2x
You are the miracle working God
Your name is Yahweh”.

Fare thee well till we meet again.

Daddy,
this is your boy Zamani a.k.a Ijebu Boy (nicknames from Daddy Lumor).

If only I had just 60 seconds with you in this realm before your sudden sleep, I would have tirelessly appreciated you for exuding such an unmatched level of awesomeness.

Firstly, thank you for the Lumorlings (look at how amazing they are; you and mummy Lu definitely did something right)

Thank you for the counsels, nuggets, faith boosters & words of encouragement etc.

Thank you for the broad and spontaneous sense of humour

Thank you for being a joy transmitter

My, very sad news. He was so dedicated and sent the daily devotion to so many of us after sending one to the platform!
This news is just unbelievable.
Anyway, he's at rest now with his maker.
We celebrate his life and the fond memories will live in our hearts. Wow!

Hmmm. Then it's true Pastor Sam Lumor is gone to the maker.
Before he started sending the daily devotions to the platform I was regularly receiving them.
At times I call him for his charactistic "short" prayers.
He promised meeting me personally whenever he steps in Ghana.
Man proposes but God disposes.
May he rest in peace.

I am dumbfounded. What a fleeting life we are going through. Will he be brought home? Two strong members just slipped off like that. What are the lessons? We should try and accomplish all our unfinished businesses - issues our children have to know about, writing our wills, making peace with those we are at loggerheads with. Ku meklea ame o

Mr. Sam Lumor was my boss in the office in NETCO as Lead Process Engineer. He was a very thorough person, very unassuming and neat. Almost to a fault. I can't forget how he made us complete the Front End Engineering Design of Cawthorne Channel and Awoba gas plant on schedule. You drove us so hard to achieve this feat and we thank God because all of us shared in the glory. He later became the Engineering Manager. The lunch hour fellowship you set up in NETCO is still waxing strong.

We became family and my family spent plenty of time together with your family in your house at the Redemption camp. Our son, who you nicknamed Junyo is now a man.

I thank God for the life you lived and for impacting my life positively.

MY FATHER! MY MENTOR!! MY FRIEND!!!
Infact it was a great shock when I received the call on Sunday evening, 7th of February 2021, l rushed down to his house to confirmed my fear.
Daddy Lumor as he was fondly called was humble, jovial, kind-hearted and God fearing man of God. He was a friend, confidant and one in million spiritual father to my family. How it hurts to refer to him in the past but I take great solace in the knowledge that daddy lived a life of selfless service to God and humanity.
Daddy, I'm so glad that our paths met, you lived and loved all. You served your God in the capacity He allowed you inspite of countless challenges.
To us, you were a burden bearer, always lending a helping hand, a great giver of love and care.
I celebrate your life, your legacy and the testimonies of life impacted while you were here. Your life also touched so many others in accordance to the great commission. You took the decision to consistently obey the Lord and so we do not mourn your demise.
You came! You saw!! You fought!!! and You finally conquer. We will greatly miss you daddy Lumor, no doubt; continue to rest in the bossom of our Lord Jesus Christ till we meet again.
On behalf of all your all your spiritual children at RCCG Beautiful Gate Parish/Area, Fruitful Vine Area/Zone.

If I have to describe my daddy, I will simply say that he is a man of God. I don't know how life would have been if I had not met you. You took me into your home, into your life, into your heart as your first daughter and gave me a new identity. Apart from being my Workers in training teacher, you trained me, nurtured me and prepared me for marriage. You taught me basic principles of life, Christian virtue, simple etiquette and how to give excuses for people's wrong.
When I told you that a brother proposed to me, your question is; Yinka omo mi, is he born again? Does he have a job? You gave me all the support needed and gave my hands out in marriage. Three weeks to my wedding, you came from United States of America for a conference. You gave me some dollars and told me you will not be able to come for the wedding any more. I was surprised to see you at the engagement. When I asked why you changed your mind, you said, "What would I be doing in America when my daughter is getting married?
I got a truck load of souvenir. I still have the bucket and the jotter in the name of Yomi, Shalewa and Funmi Lumor that I kept to show your grandchildren.
I got your shoulder to lean on throughout my eighteen years of waiting. Your prayers and words of comfort kept my faith alive. When the miracle finally happened in the year 2020, you rejoiced exceedingly and shared the testimony as a fulfilled grandfather.
To say I will forever missed you is an understatement; but my consolation is that you are a winner, you have gone to be with your maker. On the resurrection morning, we shall meet to part no more.
Sleep on sweet daddy.

Your daughter,
Olayinka Dickson.

Uncle Sam!
It’s us, your nephews and nieces who are paying tribute to you.
The first Sunday of the second month of 2021 was not a good one because death robbed us of a great treasure. You should have seen us, we were broken. However, if you were here with us, you would have told us…;
1 Thessalonians 5:16 – 18, “Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
We will therefore not be sorrowful from hence but we’ll give thanks to God. More especially, knowing that you are with God in heaven.
Since you left us, we have been reflecting on life and how wonderful you were to us. Not only were you an uncle, you were our daddy, our pastor and our friend. You made our welfare and wellbeing your concern, although you were miles away from us.
You always called home and said words of encouragements to us. You’d also call on our birthdays to pray for us. Unless you do not hear of us achieving a milestone, you’d call to celebrate us. Daddy, who will do these in your absence? Who will comment, “In the name of JESUS” on our Facebook posts? Who will send us Bible verses every morning via Whatsapp?
We miss you already, Pastor Lu… And we will continue to miss you.
Rest well and may God keep you.

Tribute to Engr. Pastor Sampson Kwasi Lumor
By Ing. Rex-Godson Edeckor
My friend, brother and cousin, I am lost for words and do not know how to start this tribute. Our friendship started early when we were in Secondary school and grew into brotherhood when we lived together in Kaduna. To our pleasant surprise we discovered later that we were actually related by blood and are second or third cousins.
Since you were senior and an academic giant, I took a lot pride in trying to follow your footsteps and I have not regretted using you as a role model.
When offered science in the A levels I took up the challenge and offered same subjects and when you entered engineering I also wanted to be an engineer. When I found difficulties in deciding between Mechanical/ Electrical/ Civil engineering you were there to advise that I become a civil engineer which I have not regretted.
Even though you graduated and doing your national service at Keta some 500 km away from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi you were one of first people to visit me in my first year to find out how i was faring . My friend am most grateful for your interest in my progress in life. You did same to other people who tried in the sciences from our village Tegbi.
Dr. Lawson Ahadzie told me similar stories of how guided him into medicine. Efo Kwasi we are most grateful.
Now your exit is too painful and we would have loved to receive more of your daily devotional prayers which normally drops on our WhatsApp first thing in the morning.
May the almighty grant you eternal rest in His bosom.
Engineer Lumor fare thee well. Pastor Sampson Hedenyuie mor me nakor nawo.
Efo Kwasi your maker called and you responded like the faithful servant we mortals can only thank God in all situations. May your flight be smooth
