her Life

A message to my Family......

Life's been rough for everyone in the family since Mom's passing. I wanted to put this together for all of us to go to whenever we need that few minutes to regroup. Putting this tribute together about Mom for everyone to look at brought many many tears in my eyes as well as me sitting at the computer laughing out loud looking at some of these pictures/videos and reminiscing, as I am sure you all will too.

Anyone can add a story to this site, you can add pictures, you can even add music so please add your memories of Mom/Nana so we can always remember the special times we have ALL had with the most truly amazing woman in our lifetime! I don't have some pictures I am sure you all may have so please post your pics on here. If you are unsure how, please ask me or just send the pics to me and i'll upload them to the site. There is no limit on pics, music, videos...anything! This is ours for life!

~We Love You Mom~ Your Always In Our Hearts~

Introduction! Who is "Mom"?

Mom (Patricia Ann Knouse) was born in Benton, PA. on April 14, 1936. She was the youngest of 11 children! Mom used to say "Grammy said I was a change of life baby"!

I can say Mom and Grammy pretty much had the same relationship me and Mom had! Boy oh boy did she cherish her! Grammy's real name was Anna Mae Knouse and was born on February 2, 1891 and passed away in 1980 at 89 years old! She was the sweetest Grammy anyone could ask for, just like Mom was the best Mom anyone could ask for!

I never got to meet my Grandfather, Ralph Knouse, he passed away suddenly in his 40's of a heart attack.

Mom and Dad

Mom and Dad were married 22 years and had 4 children: Paulie, Karen, Diane and Vicky! They were the best parents you could ask for! Us kids never went without anything! Our family home was in Rochester, NY and our home address was 60 Ontario St. We lived directly across the street from Mt. Carmel School so that was great!

Mom was a "stay at home Mom" and she was the best at it! I remember Mom's spring cleaning! All of the walls washed down with spic and span (and nothing else), Mom would wash the Venetian blinds in the tub, change the color of curtains each season, she just worked all day, everyday!

Dad worked for the City. He was a hard worker for many years and supported us like no other Dad! Dad retired from the City early as he suffered a back injury while at work and then retired early. At that point Dad started buying corner stores and that's where we all worked! Mostly them, open to close. We owned a total of 3 stores: First store was on the corner of Clifford Ave and Thomas St., Second store was on University Ave. and the third was on Scio St. Having the stores was a ton of work for them, eventually Mom and Dad sold the stores.

Sharing A Dream

Shared by Karen Dejesus on April 12, 2019

We all have thoughts of... if only Heaven had a phone ... how about a hug through the clouds.. how about that beautiful feeling holding those precious hands. You are in my heart and thoughts always longing to see how wonderful you are looking, talking, laughing and just to see that beautiful smile!! Well for the first time I dreamt seeing that beautiful face!! In my dream I was going to see someone in a hospital and as I approached that person, yep its you!! I remember yelling "Mom's back" "Moms back"! Hugging you, kissing you and saying to you how great you looked and if you were here to stay.. well needless to say.. that dream ended!! Seeing you was wonderful and therapeutic!!  Mom come and visit us anytime it may only be a dream, but it's comforting to see your beautiful face!!! Love and miss you sooooooo Mom!!

"Our Last Night Together"

Shared by Karen Dejesus on March 16, 2019

Well Mom in exactly 12 hours it'll be 2 years since The Lord called you home. The saddest day of my life. I'll never forget our last night together as I held your hand, rubbing your arm, kissing your forehead believing this was comforting you. Many times throughout that night I thought,  it was, time! Your breathing just was soooo hard to watch and I told you it was ok Mom we'll be fine, go be with Paulie and Grammy! You were stubborn! It's the Knouse in you as you said often!! The nurses keep coming in to look on you and would say, "she's ready but not leaving while your here"! So I give you a kiss and go out in the reception area for a couple of hours. I did fall asleep and woke up in a panic! Go back to your room and say well Mom gave you alone time, nurses were wrong! As I sit here remembering each hour, I often feel I wish I would have never left that morning, it's a guilt I will have to live with, but I know you weren't alone! I did your flower arrangement myself this year pretty sure you'll love it! I love you Mom!

Squeaky

Shared by Vicky Morris on January 24, 2019

So, Dawn Morris....you know my daughter?!! Yeah, so she decided she wanted to get a dog! Needless to say, I was told the same day the "new puppy" was arriving she purchased one! She asked her Titi Karen to drive to Buffalo, NY to pick this puppy up from the airport that she spent over $1000 for! Then she calls me and tells me she bought this puppy when Karen is on her way to my job to show me! Well, long story short, his name was Squeaky! Eventually Dawn moved out and left Squeaky who then became Mom's best friend! She adored Squeaky but when Mom's dementia got worse I had to put Squeaky up for adoption. Mom was feeding Squeaky the food she was supposed to be eating so as Mom started losing weight, Squeaky was blowing up getting so fat! I took Squeaky to Lollypop Farm and in about 3 weeks he ended up being on the news for the "Pet of the Week" and was adopted by a wonderful family the next day! Thankfully there was a happy ending! And yes, THAT is why I no longer own pets!
