She would often tell her children and grandchildren "This is the bridge your grandfather built".
In the early years of her marriage, Patricia relocated to Missouri and lived with her mother in law Mae Scott while her husband served in the US Army. Patricia loved joining her family on road trips across the United States and fulfilled a childhood dream when she organized a road trip for her family from San Francisco to Anchorage Alaska.
As her children grew and became parents themselves Patricia dedicated herself to taking care of her grandchildren. There was nothing Patricia would or could not do for her grandchildren. She would help with driving to school, activities and sporting events. She would not accept payment for her care stating that it was a privilege to care for her own grandchildren.
