Her Life
January 9, 2015

On June 30, 1952, the union of the late Herman and Rebecca Johnson-Monagan was blessed with the birth of a bouncing baby girl whom they named Patricia Jane. She was their first daughter and fourth child. Early on Sunday morning January 4, 2015, the Lord saw that Patricia was tired and called his faithful servant home after battling a long and lengthy illness. She is preceded in death by Herman Johnson Sr, Father, Herman “BoxSupper” Johnson, Jr, brother and Bobby L. Monagan, Step-Father.

Patricia began her walk with Christ at an early age by uniting with the Pine Grove United Methodist Church in White Plains, Al where she served faithfully until her health failed her. She was very active at Pine Grove serving in various offices and on several committees.

She graduated from Lanett High School in 1970 and completed courses at Auburn University in Montgomery and Tuskegee University thereby gaining her CDA teaching certificate. She was employed with the Chambers Tallapoosa Headstart Program where she served faithfully for 26 years touching the lives of countless children who remembered her even after they had become adults.

To know "Sister" as she was so affectionately called , was to love her and everybody would know she loved to cook. She was well known for cooking big meals, sweets and always having company over to eat. She also had a love for singing and was a member of The Rose of Sharon Gospel Group who were known for their style and grace and good "down home singing" wherever they traveled. Additionally she was known as the best "Avon Lady and would always have an Avon book on hand wherever she was and boxes for you to shop when you needed something. Patricia was a woman with wisdom and cared deeply for her family. She reared her Autistic son when Autism was not as prevalent and well known as it is today. She was the “Connection” of all the local news and church happenings, and if you ever needed anyone’s phone number just call her and she would have it. She loved listening to Johnny Hill on WPLV everyday and made sure everyone got their birthday shout-out.

Patricia leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter Marcelyn Johnson of Lanett,AL and a loving and devoted son Diamen Johnson of Lafayette,AL. A loving and devoted grandson Rontavious “RJ” Johnson, Lanett,AL. A loving and devoted mother Rebecca J. Monagan, Lanett, AL. Three brothers, Rev. Curtis Johnson, Heflin,AL, Bobby L.
