Thinking of you , Pat, on your 74th birthday. We have walked many paths in common …MSMC, Columbia, nurse, professor, mother, wife. And now Ford’s Colony in our retirement. You were always so easy to talk with and laugh with. Missing you and the fun we could have had here together. Rest In Peace.

I was shocked and saddened when I recently learned of Pat's untimely passing. Pat and I were faculty colleagues at MSMC and graduated in the same class from the doctoral program in nursing education at Teachers College, Columbia University. I will always remember Pat with a smile on my face as I think of the fun times we shared at work and school. Rest in peace, my friend.

I have enjoyed talking with Pat at Friends and Neighbors and other social gatherings where her wit and positive attitude were always apparent.  Pat’s accomplishments, compassion and investment In the lives of others were so evident as witnessed by both students and colleagues in their expressions of heartfelt remembrances.

You were indeed a lucky man to share your life with her and in my limited observation, she was very supportive of you as you both worked to contribute to you community.

Bob, we were so sorry to read in the “Gazette” about your wife’s passing and just wanted you to know that our thoughts are with you at this very sad time. I remember meeting Pat at one of those financial dinners. She and I laughed about trying to limit YOU to only 1 question. I’m sure she was a lovely person and will certainly be missed by many people.

Please accept our sincerest condolences.

I will miss:
- Pat’s laugh.
- Her sharing of knowledge and bringing it down so that a layperson
would understand. We had many amazing discussions over the
  years.
- Her empathy for people experiencing complex health issues like Bill
  and I were challenged with.
- The many years of fun times on Maui. All the shared sunsets.
- Witnessing such a long term marriage that functioned from a high
level of love, companionship and mutual respect. Rare in my
  opinion.

I wish I had known Pat prior to her and Bob’s move to Ford’s Colony. She had a life well lived. Previously I had told Bob what always attracted me about Pat was her smile and how genuinely you felt that she was happy to see you. She will be missed and water aerobics will not be the same without her.

A few reminiscences from Jean Holwell about my friend Pat:
I met Pat in 1965 when we were freshmen @ Russell Sage, but we didn’t become friends until sophomore year. I believe we were introduced by Selma Kelly Reinovsky, whom I knew from several classes we shared freshman year.
I loved Pat’s sharp wit, her hearty laugh & her wry sense of humor. With most of our close friends being elementary ed. majors, Pat & I often commiserated over our perception that she (as a nursing major - - affectionately known as “Nursie Wonder”) & I (as a history major), seemed to have more work to do than they did. In our junior & senior year Pat had a huge number of nursing papers to do & I was constantly adding to my shoe box full of notecards for 100+ page research papers. Meanwhile, our el. ed. Pals were busy making paper snakes in “methods” class for a kiddie art project. Over the years, “paper snakes” became something Pat & I laughed about, even if it might have slightly annoyed those el. ed. majors.
When we graduated, Jerry & I appreciated that Pat & Bob made the trip to Long Island for our August wedding. And we were always grateful for their hospitality over the years when we visited them in Poughkeepsie & much later in Williamsburg.
It was our privilege, & my mother’s delight, to babysit Anne-Marie as a toddler while Pat & Bob attended a family wedding on LI. It was then that the devoted “dog people,” the Lunds, met & were charmed by our sweet, gentle & super-friendly cat, Clawdine. For years afterward, Pat & Anne-Marie would ask about our feline friend whenever they saw us.
Our daughter honed her beginning swimming skills in the Lund’s pool at their James St. house. And, I will always remember a visit to the Lunds when we took a “field trip” to an art show - - @ Greenhaven State Prison! A few years ago, when we “recycled” the landscape we bought there by donating it to a church “Chinese Auction,” the people who won it loved the provenance that it was painted by a convicted murderer! Pat always was a great tour guide with an interesting itinerary for every visit.
Jerry & I, w/ Amanda, our daughter, were some of the crazy people who braved an ice storm to attend Anne-Marie’s wedding. We were honored to have been invited & to have gotten home safely!
I will miss those long conversations w/ Pat on history, politics, medicine, teaching (she at the college level & I in a high school), family & friends. We didn’t see each other often, but each time we got together it was as if we’d never been apart.
It has been such a blessing for the 5 couples - - the Lunds, the Fowlers, the Schmidts, the Reinovskys & us - - to get together occasionally. The last time on beautiful Green Bay w/ all of us present was extra-special & so poignant.

To Bob and Anne-Marie,
Pat was a colleague and friend while we were both working at WCSU. She was the consummate professional at all times but she was also a hell of a lot of fun to work with! One of my fondest memories of her was her referring to herself as the "Wicked Witch riding her broom" when she had the unfortunate occasion where she needed to hold a student accountable for their less-than-stellar performance. In the event someone else in the department found themselves in a similar situation, she would kindly offer to "lend us her broom"! Fortunately, Pat was such an excellent teacher she only needed to use the broom on very RARE occasions!
Pat will be missed by her family, her former students, her colleagues and friends, myself included! May she rest in peace on the big cruise ship in the sky!
Love,
Pat Geraci

July 17, 2020 - To the Family and Friends of Dr. Patricia Lund,

I remember Dr. Lund as a strong instructor. I loved clinical with her. She had knowledge far beyond what words can explain. Dr. Lund had the ability to see the kindness in others. Dr. Lund was kind herself. I wish that the world can see some of the kindness in each other the way Dr. Lund presented to all of us even those who were less deserving of that kindness. I am so sorry for the loss of Dr. Patricia Lund. The world is a bit darker without you. Sincerely, Mary Rose Beauvais, RN, BSN

Pat,
You are missed! We've been friends since Bob and you retired to Ford's Colony. We shared many good times: our monthly wine and dine outings with your favorite always being Le Yaca, water aerobics, Ford's Colony clubs and numerous good conversations. We seemed to be able to talk about most any topic; we especially enjoyed conversations about all our travels to interesting parts of the world and about the younger generation: your nieces and nephews whom you loved dearly and my grandchildren. We miss your smile, your conversations and most of all we miss your friendship. Rest in peace, dear friend. Brenda and Carl Bass

Mike & I are so very sorry that Pat lost her valiant fight to recover from a most difficult surgery. You worked so very hard to support her. We are so glad that you were able to see her in recent days.

I met Pat at the Ford’s Colony Water Aerobics/Exercise sessions held at the Swim and Tennis Pool in 2012. During these sessions, I always enjoyed hearing stories about her professional career and the wonderful trips she and Bob took.
For the last few years she took on the responsibility of organizing the group with sign-in sheets, recruiting volunteers to help with the end-of-the season pot-luck brunch and as a leader of the Tuesday, Thursday sessions. She also attended the Activities Committee meetings and wrote the blurb for the Talk of the Colony each month.
In February, after Pat advised the volunteer Water Aerobics leaders that she would not be able to participate this summer, I took over Pat’s responsibilities. Under her able direction via a series of emails and the help of the other leaders, the Water Aerobics/Exercise program continues at Ford’s Colony.
I am saddened by Pat’s death and will miss her smiling face, her stories and her guidance.

I first was introduced to Pat at a Ford's Colony Friends and Neighbors meeting. My first impression was -- What a smile!

Most of my memories of Pat are from water aerobics. That smile and laughter never quit. Her willingness to take charge when needed so the group wouldn't be disappointed was always appreciated.

Pat was obviously an accomplished professional but she was also quite a lovely lady.

Rest in peace, dear Pat. Your days of illness are over. Remembering your infectious laugh, silliness riding our swim noodles in water aerobics, and always looking for an excuse to have lunch at Le Yaca. Even though you were facing major surgery you took the time to give me guidance on a career path in nursing for Elizabeth - no matter the circumstances you were always there for a friend. Lastly, the courage you showed when loved ones could not be with you during surgery and the long VCU stay. I hope you felt the warmth of all our positive thoughts to comfort you.
