It is so hard to believe that Pat has passed. She was a colleague who became a dear friend.
Her joie de vivre was infectious -- she was always so positive and caring, and she always had time to listen.
Just this time last year Pat hosted a surprise "bridal shower" for me at her lovely home. I will miss her!

So sorry for your loss. We knew Pat through my mother (Estelle)...she was a great friend to my mom. Pat also helped our son through math, as she tutored him for a year or so during elementary school. She'll be missed.

I am sorry for the loss of your dear Patricia. We struggle with the question of why something like this happens, why people even have to die at all. God hates when things like this happen. He has a purpose that includes "death being no more" -Rev. 21:3, 4, as well as promising to “undo” death with the resurrection of our loved ones – John 5:28, 29. Currently the world is "lying in the power of the wicked one", but not for much longer. Perfect health and perfect life await your loved one. Patricia Gurico passed away on June 26, 2019 at her home in Jackson, NJ at age 73. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Josephine and Edward DeVito and a graduate of Brooklyn College, Pat was a passionate and inspiring educator, activist and Elvis devotee. 


She will be remembered by her children, Larissa Verona, Martin Gurico and his wife Trish, Nicholas Gurico and his wife Karen; cherished grand children, Liliana, Giavanna, Alexander and Stephanie, beloved siblings Edward DeVito and Lorraine Fama and her many loved nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Gurico. 

Pat devoted her life to her many family and friends and environmental, labor union and social causes. She enjoyed travel, movies and Broadway, mahjong, and her committee membership at the Westlake Italian-American club. 

Visitation will be held at the Lakewood Funeral Home 6250 Route 9, Howell, NJ on Monday, July 1 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am on July 2 at St. Mary of the Lake Church. 


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sierra Club.
