I met Patrick when I had just arrived in Saudi Arabia to work for ARAMCO. I was in the IT (then called EDP) department and he was in Materials Management, which used the systems of my assigned group. He came to my desk with a marked-up program listing and asked me to make the noted changes. Since I was new to the location, I didn’t yet have access to the system or application and I had not yet been told the approved processes for changing, testing and implementing modifications to production systems. So , of course, I could not make the requested change.
That incident illustrates what a dedicated worker Patrick was. As I came to know him professionally and socially, I saw many admirable qualities. He was not only professionally competent but was also witty, intelligent, gregarious, affable and an all-round good friend and good person. Due to these and other enviable nattributes he rose quickly to management positions in Materials and in IT.
Patrick and Elizabeth were a perfect match and were blessed to have found each other. Jack and I were always happy to see them when they passed through Southern California and we look forward to seeing Elizabeth in the future,
We were all lucky to have known Patrick and will miss him always. Happy trails, Patrick. Elizabeth, I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. L
Love and hugs,
Sandra Bartley
