In Loving Memory of my Earthly Father, Paul Thierry

Dad I just can’t believe it, You did make it to heaven! Mom’s there, and so many others who have loved you gathering around you and celebrating your arrival. It must be amazing to witness and feel this energy pouring into your soul. Such love, such light. May the heavenly father keep you in his arms forever in the kingdom of glory!

In my love for you, Dad,
I saw the ways you learned to work through life, The generous gift of love and support you gave through counseling helped many people and couples, your devotion to prayer for those in need of guidance and healing was remarkable. Your work with Big Brothers helped so many children providing guidance and mentoring. You were a devoted family man, non judgmental, forgiving and loving. Your connection to faith, along with Mom’s, gave us a good education and upbringing in a comfortable loving family. Thousands of memories of a wonderful life we have lived with you.

You shared so many things and interests with me most of all your love and appreciation of music, this has led me to a lifelong semi-career as a musician. What a gift from you! You were a progressive, modern man when I was younger, you loved stereo sound equipment that amplified this great new music. You took me to concerts by the foremost of their time, bands from Santana to Chicago to Pink Floyd. You were a rocking dad and I loved you for this.

Your studies of phycology were of interest to me. This taught me the ways to understand how and why people are the way they are, a good thing to understand early on in life and it has helped me along my way. You studied hard and worked even harder to support our family.

You were a super-wordsmith, able to give talks and speeches and do a crossword puzzle in an hour. Your studies in handwriting analysis were of interest and beneficial to those interested.
Magnet therapy did work. You researched this to help relieve the pain our mother had from arthritis. I have used this method to reduce pain and it does work.

You were a sports fan, especially of the Cincinnati Reds. We attended games at all three stadiums that have existed in the city. What memories from those wonderful times at the ballpark! Go Reds.

At 5 years you started taking me to Findley Market with you on Saturdays. Wow, what an incredible place, downtown, old buildings, color on display and fresh food we loved.
You invented the Thierry Salad, always our Saturday night feast and so good with anchovies!
I have reminded a faithful shopper at Findley Market throughout my life. Thank you dad!

You had gratitude and appreciation for all things beautiful, nature and all of God’s creatures on earth, the wonders of the universe and the love that was given to you from your family, friends and clients you helped. You were a dedicated spouse to our mother who passed so long ago.
She was so beautiful in her ways and in her devotion to us and her faith. I understood her and helped her in every way I could. When she passed I knew I had to support you with love and help for the remainder of your life. It has been my duty as your son to do this and my reward has been you constant love, appreciation and and forgiveness. I love you dad.

Your undeniable faith in Jesus, The Father, and The Blessed Mother has undoubtedly given your soul a joyous place to reside in the kingdom of heaven. Peace father, my Daddy Paul

I spent a lot of time in the Thierry home as a teenager. Paul and Nellie always made me feel welcome. As I grew older I learned how thoughtful and caring Paul was.
Gus, Anita and Lisa, I will always have fond memories of the time I spent with all of you. You have my deepest sympathies and well wishes.

We send prayers and warm thoughts to the family and friends of Paul Thierry.

In talking with our neighbor, Paul, we found he had worked as the Psychiatrist for Catholic Charities on adoption cases.  We were amazed to find the dates coincided and he had worked on our adoption of our newborn baby boy!

Paul was major in placing our beautiful baby, now wonderfully a man, in our arms to love. We are forever grateful.

Whenever I was in Paul's presence he was so totally present to me. His eyes, mind, and soul were focused on me and what I was trying to convey. Paul was very aware of the spiritual dimension of life. So much so one could believe he resided there more than in this material world. He was a gift of God to each of us who got to know him. We are all blessed to have shared some part of life with him.

Dear Gus, Lisa, and Anita,
You have my sincere condolences for your father's passing. Your dad was such a kind, loving, gentle soul. I have very fond memories of him, and your mom, when we'd hang out and play loud music at your house. He always made us feel welcome and respected and would often engage us in interesting conversations. Please know that you are in my heart.

With love,

Hi Gus, Lisa, and Anita
I am sorry to hear of your dads passing. Your mom and dad's house was a wonderful place to include where we would go as teenagers. Your dad was always kind and pleasant despite the teenage chaos we brought, including working on our musical talents in the basement bar room. I am eternally grateful.

Our prayers and support are with you all

Paul is #1 on my Readers’ Digest list of people I will remember that touched my life. What a Christian gentleman and a gentle man. He was my case worker at Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati. My little brother relationships were most effective thanks to his guidance. Condolences to all his children and friends.  Jim Schmidt

Our sincere thanks and burial information for Paul

December 4, 2022
It's been three weeks since my Dad passed on to his salvation in Heaven.
We, as his family have done all the important things to honor him. A beautiful Mass at St. Bernards Parish was held on November 28th with a lunch reception afterwards. I want to thank all of those that were present for coming and showing their respects and sympathy.
You can see the recorded video of the Mass on St Bernards website: https://www.stbernardcincy.org/

The wooden urn that holds his ashes now sits on the highest shelf in the sun filled atrium of my home. We will have the burial-internment in April of next year at Spring Grove Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to our dearly departed Mother, his spouse, Nellie.

This website: Forevermissed.com/paulthierry will remain online for several years or longer. Please return to this site for future information about the date of internment.
Also, Please leave stories and tributes to Paul.

Thank you again for all the kind words and support,
Sincerely,
Gus Thierry

Ode to a Balloon

December 4, 2022
ODE TO A «THANK YOU" BALLOON
My retirement balloons have risen
to the ceiling of the living room
where they nudge the unyielding
boundary, as if imprisoned.
I regard them reflectively and then,
choosing the balloon marked "Thank
You', I take it outside in the cool
September afternoon and.....
release it;
It flutters hesitantly, and then
finding a ladder in the gray wind it
soars heavenward, finds a hallway
to the south and rapidly fades
from my sight.
Finally it disappears - but
only from my vision.
And I pray: Take my thanks to my
Creator, and to all those I cherish,
who blessed my beyond measure on
this wonderful day.
