August 3, 2018

Happy Birthday!!  I know where you are now everyday is a celebration..  i miss you and can’t wait until I’m home with you, mama and Tabby...  love you always and forever

June 25, 2015

Dear Paul,

It's been the hardest year of my life...  I miss you more and more each day.

People lie when they say it gets easier with time,  it doesn't .

I've learned a lot since you've been gone.  I can't wait to see you again, I have a lot of questions for you!!!  I wish God would give you back to me, I need you!!!  You were my family, my everything and I'll never understand this.  You would be so proud of the kids, they are so much stronger than me.  We love and miss you so very much...

Happy Birthday, Paul!

August 3, 2014

         Hey Young Man!

At  the uh - ahh - uhm... "Godly" hour of 03:02am, My "Reminder Message Notifier" sounded off!  Blew me out of bed, is what really happened!  It's alright though, because I wanted to write you today anyway.

Happy Birthday, Paul! What is it like to celebrate a birthday in Heaven, when you know so many of us sorely miss you down here?  Huh?   Oh, I know, It's just that everything looks different to us now, as it does to you! We're dealing with all the emotions, imperfections, ect., of life. Seeing everything from God's view, and keeping our own hearts open to His will--- in every dicision we must make, is certainly challenging as we reflect on what has happened. But you my friend, are now...PERFECT!  You see, we really do see things differently.

So, on your first "Perfect Birthday," I think it would be appropriate to give you some imperfect, perfect news. Another one of our "OB Fearsome Foursome" friends, went to be with the Lord on July 17th. David Dennis passed away...from his battle with cancer. Midgette and I are the only one's left now. You in June, DD in July, and we're lookin' at each other, wondering which uf us is gonna go in August. Sobering thoughts! And Debbie, she's begining to adjust, much like Betty is. Our prayers are with them both.

( Speaking of prayer, Midg is in Mississippi. His mother-in-law will soon pass. Her body is shutting down and the family has been called in. It'll be any day now. So, I'm praying for them too. )

This really did start out to be a "Perfect" Happy Birthday letter. So on a lighter note, How about this :  Take your "Perfect Spiritual Body, and levitate it on down Heavens Highway. When you get to to the intersection of Hallelujah Boulevard, you'll see David Dennis in a phone booth with his back side facing you. Just rattle his cage and say "BOO"! See how high he jumps!

     Love ya Buddy!

The Best Daddy Ever!!!

August 3, 2014

I really enjoyed, and looked forward to going to the store with Daddy every Thursday, that was our time to spend together. Towards the end he would always take me to Kangaroo and buy me an Icee! I love Daddy so much and am so glad he was my Daddy!!!!!!!          - Lindsey Nichole

Every year Daddy took us all Christmas shopping for Mama, and he also took us out to lunch. He taught me how to make Mama's coffee for her when he couldn't. What I enjoyed most was the time we all spent watching the Live FWC Services, and our devotionals in the Bible followed by laughing and talking for hours! I love and miss him very much!!!                      - Callie Michelle

I have so many stories about the greatest Daddy ever, but I will try to narrow it down to just a few: In May of 2007, Daddy and I went to the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We had a great time and we drank plenty of Coke!!!
When we were younger, he used to take us all on the road with him in his big truck. One time, we went to Jacksonville, Florida, and did an event with Operation Blessing and the Jacksonville Jaguars!  Every year, he and I would put up Christmas lights on the warmest day of November or December (because he was cold all the time). All of us enjoyed watching the race, Florida Gators football games, and playing games with Daddy. I am so glad that God gave us the best Daddy in the whole world, and I thank Him for it everyday!  I love and miss him very much, and I always will!!!!!          - Brendon Paul

There is so much I could say about Paul, he was not only my husband but my best friend.  There is not a day that goes by that my heart does not ache just to hear his voice.  He was always telling me that everything was going to be alright.  I so need to hear that!!!! Paul was always trying to aggravate me, the picture of him in the suit is one example.  He was going to the store and he had on some faded out t-shirt and jeans that he had worn to work.  So I told him to go change his clothes, and that he had better things to wear.  So he went in the bedroom and came out in the suit and said, "Is this good enough?"  That was Paul, and so much more..........

                 HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL (& DADDY!)

Tribute To Paul Hancock (In Letter Form)

July 5, 2014

            Paul,

It was your friendship through the years that I valued most. Driving trucks together in ministry at Operation Blessing, shared stories, prayers with and for one another through our voluntary daily devotional group, and confiding advice to each other, when either of us needed it. True friends do those things with each other.. and you Paul, left a legacy of a trustworthy friend!

You once gave me two pages of notes from a sermon entitled: "The Three Steps of Faith." Illustrated by 3 farmers, a stranger, an umbrella and of course... Prayer!

The drought stricken farmers were gathering each day to pray for rain when, one day a stranger came and asked, "What are you guys doing?"

Farmer one replied, "We're praying for rain."

The stranger didn't think so, but came by a second time and asked again, "What are you guys doing?"

Farmer two replied, "We're praying for rain."

"I don't think so." said the stranger as he went his way. But sure enough, He showed himself  to the farmers a third time and asked, "What are you guys doing?"

The third farmer's reply: "We haven't had rain for our crops, our livestock and our families in over a year. Man,we need rain! We are urgently praying for RAIN. That's what we"re doing."

And for a third time the stranger said: "I don't think so."

This continued response from the stranger got under the skin of the farmers. The #3 farmer stood up and said to the stranger. "You see us pray every day, bringing our concerns to God for each other, our farms, our families and rain for the whole region. We are doing everything we know to do! Now tell us, What would you do?"

The stranger raised his voice and said, "I'D BRING AN UMBRELLA!" meaning: "I'd exercise my Faith by Demonstrating It!

The Three Steps (Levels) of Faith:

       1. Anticipation - Take your umbrella along with you. (just in case)

       2. Expectation - Carry your umbrella  by your side. (looks like I need it)

       3. Conviction - Hold your umbrella up. I am convinced that God is answering my prayer---right now!  I'm in a downpour of His answered prayer!

Paul, you know I've lived those step and practiced them ever since you shared them with me several years ago. Those Faith Steps have taken me along an unexpected course when facing life's challenges. I will forever be very grateful for your encourgement!

The pages of those notes are now tattered and torn from years of use. However, as a lasting tribute to our friendship and memory of you, I'll give (what I consider to be) the most valuable thing you gave me... the original notes you prepared for me (as written by your own hand),to your lovely bride and wonderful children.

In this way, your dedicated Christian Leadership will continue to serve and guide, in the lives of the one's you love most... your family members! They also will practice these same levels of faith when facing life's difficult challenges. Answers to each of their "Faith Prayers" will... in thier own time... come!

"THE UMBRELLA IS OPEN!" and "I'm CONVINCED!" you would say. You lived out your concerns in prayer, as if those deeply personal concerns were already answered... through your prayers. That's Faith Buddy!

Paul, you also once told me of a time when you recognized that Jesus loved you enough to shed His blood for your sins. He died on a cross... for you! He was buried in a borrowed tomb... for you! And Hallelujah,He rose again to give a new life... to you!

Because you truely prayed a repentant prayer of your sin to Christ. Because you identified your life with what He did for you on the cross. Because you came to a point in your life where you willingly humbled yourself before Jesus, and asked Him to be Lord and Savior of your life. There is no doubt at all, that you now live with Him...Forever in Glory!  John 3:16!

This is your testimony! It's your family's testimony! I'm glad to say, "It's my  testimony too! Anyone who repents of all thier sins and asks Jesus to come into their heart, will receive His Holy Spirit living inside of them. Giving them... Eternal Life! Just like you did, Paul.  Praise God!

One last thing,Paul. Because we have sustained each other's concerns in prayer for several  years now, I promise you and your family, my continued prayer for each of their needs. After all, that's what a trustworthy friend does! I know because..."YOU DID IT FOR ME!"

(Prayer) Lord Jesus, I thank you for Paul's life. I thank you for all the times we shared. I pray for Each of His Family members during this time. Please Lord, Hold each one... close to the heart of Christ! May each one receive You into their own Life, Just as Paul did! We thank you and praise you, for all you've done for us, so we can live... Eternal Life!  This I Pray (as Paul did), In Jesus' name, Amen!

Thank you again, Paul!    Till we meet in Heaven above... "GOD'S SPEED BUDDY!"

                                                                   Blessings!
