His Life
March 11, 2019

Paul was born in Syracuse, New York.  He was the son of John and Clara Greenberger, and had one sister, Harriet (Jane).

He spent most of his life in the Syracuse area, but also enjoyed many of his retirement years in Stuart, Florida, and his last few years in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, where he passed away peacefully at his home, in his sleep, on February 2nd, 2019.

Paul was predeceased by his first wife, Miriam Rydelek, and his second wife, Linda Lucio.  He had two children with his first wife, Tracy and Chad.  He had four grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica, Joseph and Kristen. He was also blessed to be able to meet his very first great grandchild, Viktor, the Christmas of 2018. He was also "grandfather" to his second wife Linda's grandchildren, and uncle to David, Diane, Stephen, Ronald, Richard, Christopher, Mia, Rebecca, Marnie, Margaret, Michael and Joseph. He was beloved father-in-law to Gary (Tracy's husband), Kathy (Chad's first wife) and Kimberly (Chad's second wife). Last but not least, he was beloved "dad" to his dog Jagger, who was most definitely the third love of his life, best friend, and four-legged soulmate. Jagger lived a long and happy life and passed away in May 2018.

Paul was a veteran and was proud to have served his country in the US Marine Corps. He was an airplane mechanic during his service, and also a Sharpshooter (for which he had been awarded medals).

Paul had a long and successful career in real estate property management, rising from humble beginnings as a mechanic to the very top of his field as a respected and innovative property manager.  He made many memorable contributions to the field, and even developed housing management programs that are still in use today. He was a champion of the under-privileged and a kind, thoughtful and generous person---beloved by the communities he served and the people he worked with.

Paul was blessed with great personal friendships throughout his life. Some of his closest friends were Dee Bartholomew, Jim Peters, and Mel Picquet---but there were many more, too numerous to list.  He was known for his great sense of humor, intelligence, kind heart, his handiness (he could fix or build anything!) and his overall joy of life. He was always the very first person to volunteer his help, someone we always knew we could count on, and someone who's companionship always made the day a little brighter.

Paul was a very creative person. In addition to his mechanical "Mr. Fix-It" abilities, he could draw and paint, and partook in many artistic hobbies during the course of his life, including model ship building, leatherworking, woodcrafting, coin collecting, arts and crafts with his second wife Linda, and he even learned to play the banjo when he was in his late seventies. He loved country music and bluegrass, and classic movies. He was also very athletic and active throughout his life.  He was a gymnast in school. (I remember him walking around the house on his HANDS when I was a child!) His latest endeavor just prior to his passing was remodeling his kitchen.

Paul also loved the outdoors (the mountains as well as the beach and ocean), and hunting, camping and fishing. He loved to travel and was a master planner of the Road Trip. The Adirondacks and the Outer Banks were particular favorite places. He also loved Busch Gardens in Virginia.

More than anything, he loved his family and friends, and treasured all the wonderful times he spent with them.  There were many vacations, trips, outings, get-togethers and simple moments with Paul that we will all cherish and remember. May he rest in peace and live on in our hearts forever.
