His Life

Words of Wisdom

November 18, 2011

When Paul was small and his entire life really, he was a germaphobe. Looking back to when they were quite young, they normally attended bible school every summer. This was usually in the morning and went til noon.. When they came home, of course they were starved and came thru the door yelling "What's for lunch?" I replied "OK it's ready, but go wash your hands and then we can eat." Lyle insisted that his hands were clean and did not need washing to which Paul said, "yes they do, because they have germs on them." Lyle looked at his hands replying,  "Germs and Jesus that's all I hear and I never see either one of them." This brought a smile to my face and it still does today.

It always amazed me the interactions of the two boy's, and boy's they were at that time, in the things i am relating to you.  A few years later on the first day of school everyone one was excited about going and meeting the teachers and all the new kids. I was as excited to get home from work so they could tell me all about the day they had and their adventures and about the teachers they would have this year. Every one seemed pleased except for Lyle, who got this funny look on his face. " Well" he said, "I have the uglyest teacher in the world." Paul being the kind and gentle person he was reminded him that I had always told them beauty was only skin deep. Lyle replied "Well if beauty is skin deep this woman is rotten to the core." It's pretty hard to argue with this logic  but argue I did, but it still makes me smile.

This Memorial is to Paul, but I wanted to give you some in site into the relationship of my two sons . Unfortunately both of these kind and gentle  men died of a brain tumor, eighteen years apart. Paul was always told he had more chance of winning the lottery then getting a brain tumor. It certainly shows you what these brain surgeons know. As there is no genetic or history of brain tumors running in family's. Makes you wonder doesn't it?
