Christmas as a Child

September 23, 2016

Mom always made every holiday special, but Christmas was my favorite memories. She would always bake Snickerdoodles and make chocolate peanut butter balls. Sometimes we'd make cinnamon hard candy.

We'd go in the woods and cut down our own Christmas tree. We'd always hang candy canes and tinsel. Our favorite thing was opening our stockings before we opened our gifts. Santa always had a plate of cookies and glass of milk.

My Brother, Mike and me would camp out under the tree always waiting to hopefully get a peek at Santa but could never stay awake long enough.

We'd usually go to Granny & Granddaddys for the Christmas meal. Life was good in the Shenandoah Valley, I miss that simple life. Mom is greatly missed and much loved.
