Her Life

Peggy Jean Bookwalter, 71, of La Plata, Md passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Charles Regional Medical center surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Accokeek, Md. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Earl Leroy Lowe Sr. and Adren Eleanor Lowe, her sister Linda Smallwood,her son Eugene Miles Bookwalter III and her grandson Codie Bookwalter. 

She was the beloved wife of Eugene Miles Bookwalter Jr. for 53 years., mother of Sherrie L. (Eddie) Davis, Billy J. (Glenda) Bookwalter, Christopher L. (Sherri) Bookwalter Sr., Jenny (Mike) Oliver; grandmother of Eugene M. Bookwalter IV, Tyler J. Griffith, Denard O Hartwell Jr., Christopher L. Bookwalter Jr., Colin E. Davis, Chase A. Bookwalter, Matthew T. Davis, Bianca A. Bookwalter, Syana V. Bookwalter and Miley D. Bookwalter; great-grandmother of Trae M. Hartwell. 

She attended Accokeek Elementary school and graduated from Gwynn Park Junior Senior Highschool.

She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed throwing cookouts for her family and friends. She enjoyed playing cornhole and never lost her title as cornhole champ. She loved four-wheeling and taking her grandkids down to the creek to crayfish. She loved to fish and would fish all day if she could. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting and gardening. She was a collector of hummingbirds. She will be missed by family and friends. 


Celebration of Life to be held at the Mt. Zion Methodist Church on Saturday, January 26th, 2019 at 3:00pm.
