Peggy Jean Pennell Smith, 72, a longtime resident of Franklin County passed away, Saturday, January 9, 2015 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

She was a native of Durham County, the daughter of the late Vance Pennell and Espie Benfield. She was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham by Pastor David Richardson.

Surviving are her husband of fifteen years, Ervin Thomas “Tommy” Smith of Franklinton, a daughter, April Cates Beal of Creedmoor and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Claiborne Page.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 N. Roxboro Rd., Durham, N.C. 27704.
