A native of Nyack, NY., and the son of the late Blanche Moore, Percy retired from the U.S. Army after over 21 years of services, that include tours of duty during the Vietnam Conflict. After his tenure in the U.S. Army, he was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor for the Columbus Housing Authority for 10 years.

Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Sims. Survivors include a loving wife of 54 years, Mrs. Joann Johnson Moore; two daughters, Anita Moore- McClendon(Daryl) and Deborah Ann Figueredo-Moore; two sons, Percy E. Moore, Jr., and Christopher Moore; eight grandchildren, Jessica Henderson(Daniel), Raven Rembert, Jazzmine Fernandez(Sean), Jennifer Chambers, Jade Mullins, Ramon Figueredo, Joseph Lenhart and Julian McClendon; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Earnest M. Sims(Barbara); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
