Celebration of Dad's Life

February 14, 2018

Yesterday was the day we celebrated our dad's life and his love. So many people turned up to pay their respects. Of course there were tears but our dad was not much on crying. He had such a zest for life and was always the life and soul of any party. Yesterday was no different. He was the life and soul of that party. The first three letters of funeral are FUN.. and our dad's send off was full of fun, singing and happy memories. He had the send off he would have loved. He could have planned it himself. We sang along to all his favourite songs, danced and the wee kids danced too. Several people said it was the best funeral ever. There were a few men at the bar who must have been wondering what was going on lol The funeral undertakers Birrell Corrance in Cambuslang were exceptional. We as a family would fully recommend them. They went out of their way to do all the wee touches that make things nice. Father Paul Morton gave a lovely service and spoke so nicely about dad. Sandra and Stephen Ernest Di Paola at the Newton Arms put on a fantastic spread of foods, tea and coffee. Their wine was really nice too lol The place was packed at one point there was not even standing room. It was such a lovely day and our dad would have loved it. Such a wonderful celebration of a wonderful special man we are all proud to call Dad. Fly high Dad. Watch over us.

Peter McKenna has left the building but not our hearts.

Love you forever dad   xxx

Stevie Di Paola Sr. It was a fantastic tribute to a fantastic man, God bless all his family, he would have been so proud of you all yesterday.xx

Karen Torley is feeling so proud. 2 May 2016 · Cambuslang ·

Well we walked my dad to chapel tonight. I am so very proud of my entire family but so very very proud of my grandson Connor Torley who played Abide with me on his flute as we walked to the church with Dad. It was just beautiful and I know grandpa would have been fair chuffed with this. Probably would have had a laugh about a few other tunes too  Thank you Connor you made this so perfect son and I will never ever forget it. It was just perfect. I love you son. So much <3 xx

Dad joked with nurses almost till the end. One asked the night before he passed, "Comfy?" Quick as lightening he replied "Cambuslang" Oh I will miss that quick wit but he passed it on to us all lol xx That was just a wee thought I had there

My dad taught me so many things , his influence will remain , and even now I question things with " how would dad deal with this ?" He taught me to have faith in myself , he taught me fairness and justice , and he was my fierce protector , a family man who always put his family first . Most of all he taught me and my sisters and brother , love , and that shines out of each and every one of my family , a family my dad will be proud to call his . This past week has shown us all strengths we didn't know we had , but we also strengthened our love for one another and that unity is what is keeping us all strong . Together we can do this ! Game on

Ok, everyone who misses my dad. Let us celebrate his life. He would want us to have happy thoughts!! So come on lets hear the happy memories and pics too.. Dad was ever the comedian, singing playing guitar, tormenting us with jokes, telling us stories true and untrue lol And had a wicked sense of humour.

My dad the Haggis Farmer

February 14, 2018

Was thinking of all the funny things my dad got up to and thought of when my dad was on the Lima News Forums discussing Kenny Richey case and someone asked him what his job was. He told them that he was a Haggis farmer. He said he bred Haggis for food. He explained that a single haggis was a haggi. He went into great detail about how the haggis had happy wee lives roaming the fields of Scotland until they were humanely killed for Burns Suppers. He even found photo's of haggis running around. They were killed by whisky he said. I asked him did he get them drunk and he said ohh no its the fumes that do it and they die laughing. Many knew he was pulling their legs but some did not and we all sat back watching the responses flee back and forward for two whole weeks. He had convinced them all that time that he was serious. We were talking about this last week. We often laughed about it. The man was a serious wind up merchant lol Aw I miss him so much x <3
