Tribute to our Dad
May 24, 2021
Dad, I never believed you would leave us the day you departed, having seen you put up a resident fight and pulled through few years ago when your health was sorely challenged. Now, 4th of May will always remind us the day we lost a gem that can't be replaced or recovered. What can I do, but to give thanks to God for the years HE permitted you to share with us?
Memories of your dogged efforts towards our getting good education while growing up, in spite of gross limitations, still linger. Can I forget the countless nights of one on one with our Teacher-General, who couldn't hesitate to spank or give a head knock when lesson sessions were taken for granted?
Dad would take time to read and study our various text books so he could sit down with us to impact the relevant knowledge needed to enhance our grades in school. His background as a Business Administration graduate didn't stop him from reading and studying Physics, Biology and other science texts, so as to be equipped to teach my siblings who were in science class.
I never knew how tough those sacrifices were until it became my turn to do same for our growing children. Thanks to God you laid that good example.
Good night Baba Ade, until we meet again on the resurrection morning, when the curtain of this age will be drawn. Until then, rest on sir. I sourly miss you.
Love leaves memories no one can steal, and death leaves memories no one can heal! But we take solace in the comforting ministry of the Holy Spirit, as we forge ahead with your legacy and unspoken dreams.
Bye dad, I salute you!
