Peter, I affectionately dubbed our “family ambassador.” He was my mentor and remains my hero. A wise man ever ready to engage in conversations; his kindness, gentle demeanor and hospitality easily engaged and touched anyone he ever came in contact with. An eloquent spokesman, a great sportsman and above all a devoted family man, are the lasting memories I will forever treasure. Until we meet again, just keep lighting us with your presence.

The Late (Marcus Dantas) and Fila Dantas have been family friends for many years. Peter has always been like a father to me. He along with my Uncle Bento were the first to welcome me to Canada over 33 years ago - waiting patiently at the Airport. He was always willing to help, no matter the situation, his jokes and most of all his smile was infectious. He was caring and had valuable advise to pass along. Peter you will be missed, but always in our hearts. May you rest in peace from Dantas/D'Souza and Fernandez families.

On behalf of the Meadowvale Team at the Village of Erin Meadows I would like to offer our condolences for the loss of Peter. Our memories of him was how fast he settled into the life at the Village. Yes, there were days when he first moved in that he anxiously looked for the familiar faces of his family. However, when he realized that family visited often, he settled in well. The team describe as a ‘gentle person’ and a real ‘gentleman’. To the Pinto family I want to thank you for trusting your family member in our care. It was truly a privilege and honor. I wish you a safe and healthy New Year as you reshape your life with the loss of your loved one.

Peter Pinto who I always called “Uncle Peter” was more than an “uncle” to me. From my birth (yes, he was home when I was brought home after I was born) he remained a trusted elder, a mentor, a confidant but most importantly a close personal friend. Always ready for a conversation or debate he amazed me with his oratorical and conversational skills. He towered above everyone else not just with his physique but with his powers of persuasion whether it was in the field of politics, sports or simply dealing with everyday issues that we all experience . He was always there to guide, encourage and empathize. His kindness and love of family will be a memory that will remain with me despite his passing. His respect for elders, his deep faith and his commitment to always be there when needed is a legacy he leaves for all of us to emulate. To Elise, Terry, David, Sandy and to all members of the Pinto family I send to you my sincerest condolences. Raymond deSouza and family
