Daddy, I miss your laugh, your guidance, encouragement, hugs, music, jokes, love of Mummy, passion, hard work, considerateness, your love of our heritage and people and our family, when you watched and interacted with Zai, your wisdom, example, opinion, warmth, uniting affect, honesty, creativity, Kwanzaas...so much more. You were our glue, our rock, hero, moon and stars.

Hi, Daddy. We miss you immensely. I often have moments when I want to call and tell you about something funny or wacky in a way you might appreciate. I imagine you can see and hear us, and know that we're doing well. We still aim to make you proud of us every day, and know that you are. Love you! ~Kafi

Hi Hon
I love you and miss you much. I am so grateful for all you gave me and our children and my family for the 41 years we knew you. Your infectious spirit and positive energy changed my life and formed our children's personalities and spirits. We are all doing fine. No need to worry. I know you are watching over us. Love, Chan

Hi, Daddy. As Zaire and I looked at photos of you, he excitedly exclaimed, "There's Grandpa!". Whew, if you could hear him talk -- he's quite the conversationalist. He loves to read, is strong in math, is becoming a great swimmer, and has begun Tae Kwon Do. It was important to you that we enjoy learning, know how to swim, be confident ... I'm passing it all on to Zai. Love, Daughter #1

My Brother Phil in philosophy and in deed, was his Brothers' keeper. Selfless and attentive, he ALWAYS made time and gave effort to the needs, wants and wishes of others. His legacy is to be emulated.

Philip -

I played piano at Taka's house while you played the clarinet. Man, we were some kind of good! The one Kwanzaa celebration I was able to make was memorable. "And Angels Sing Thee To Thy Rest"

Yes, It's me again, Philip another year has gone by since I last wrote; however, I think of you frequently. Really. Frequently.

I went with school colleagues to a driving range last month--Top Golf--tiered outdoor levels with electronic scoring. Only three of the 25 teachers had ever golfed or even held a golf club (LOL) I was proud to show off all you taught me. They called me "the pro" as they actually understood your directions about creating triangles.

Miss you still. : )
Always will.

Hi Philip

That last tribute was written some time ago but just uploaded today. Today I am still missing you very very much. Zaire continues to grow into a fine young man--started high school this year and is doing well. He likes school. And now you have Dani up there with you as part of your heavenly family. I know you are all happy together. We are all doing fine here. No need to worry. You gave your family so much love that we are still living off of it. Thank you, My Dear.

Love,
Chan

“Indubitably”

  1.  Philip.
You are probably mentioned for something or about something in every family gathering—still. Bobby surprised me yesterday by bringing Dallas and Harriette with him for a day visit (since my hip replacement surgery) Yes, I was genuinely surprised, like the time all of you surprised me in Atlanta for my 60th. “The rabbit has been spotted”. Anyway, we spent most of our time singing and playing the piano. Bobby can play EVERYTHING!!  I suggested he compose his own music and write lyrics. That’s when Dallas mentioned you.  Twyla chimed in (no pun intended) on how all her uncles’ wonderful talents. This date is a reminder of many precious memories. I know without a doubt it shall always be so. Indubitably.  Miss you still.

06 On Your Face

Philip

The new school year (2016-17) began a week ago and I was standing on my step ladder in my classroom leaning against the front wall, arms stretched up high rolling and stapling bulletin board paper.  It was seven years ago that I was doing the same thing, when God took you away.   I'll never forget.  It was such a sad day.  I cried so hard...and still get teary eyed now just at the recall.

But, happy thoughts of you Philip always step in immediately  like a bright sunny day after a storm replacing streaming tears from my eyes with sounds of your joyous contagious laughter to my ears.  I'll never forget how you cackled and how you'd throw your head back. hold your sides then sigh "Oh, boy."   I remember it well.

Then, there were the hours on end when we would:  read and talk, snack and debate, talk and laugh at the table, I'd nod on the couch and you'd sleep in your favorite chair, then we'd awaken and talk some more--my brother, my friend.

Thoughts of those moments and conversations bring me comfort and cheer even now in missing you.

So, today I just wanted you to know, I still miss you Philip.

You little sister
