Engagement

January 1, 2018

Alyse and Logan had been dating for a year and a half when they decided to start investigating a new place to live. After traveling to Seattle and deciding that the unseasonably warm weather in April was still too cold, they booked a flight for Jacksonville, Florida that July.

The morning of the engagement, Alyse and Logan watched the sunrise on the beach. They then went out for breakfast and spent the day walking along the ocean. They stopped for a frozen cocktail on the beach then continued walking. Eventually, they began to discuss where to stop for lunch. Uknown to Alyse, Logan was trying to determine the best time to propose, becoming increasingly aware of the ring he was carrying.

Simply feeling very much in love, and unaware of what Logan had planned, Alyse squeezed Logan's hand and told him that she just wanted to be with him forever. Logan feeling like he had just been queued, turned Alyse gently to face him and told her that she was his best friend, and that he could not imagine his life without her in it. Getting down on one knee he asked her to marry him, Alyse feeling very excited and full of joy said yes.

A group of beach goers saw the scene unfold, prompting one of them to yell "did she say yes?" to which Logan promptly threw a thumbs up in the air.

How Logan and Alyse Met

January 1, 2018

Here is Logan and my wedding website:  http://www.theknot.com/us/alyse-and-logan

Alyse joined a running group - Team Challenge - in the Spring of 2013. Alyse met with the group on Saturday's for morning runs, which is where she met Brian White. As part of Team Challenge, the team members choose a location for a destination race - Brian and Alyse both choose Hawaii, and that summer Alyse spent the weekend with her would-be future in-laws on the Big Island in Hawaii.

A few months later, on November 1st of 2013, Brian invited Alyse to a military ball as the guest of him and his wife, Kim. She accepted the invitation and later learned that Brian's son Logan would be in attendance. Brian assured her it was not a setup, and rather he thought Logan would have more fun with someone his own age rather than going with his parents. Alyse had planned on meeting up with them at their house prior to the event, but got caught at work and was very late to arrive. The photo attached to this story, is from that night at the Military Ball fundraiser.

Logan, after seeing a photo of Alyse, agreed to attend the military ball, but did not think she was going to come at all. When she was running late, he felt it confirmed his suspicions. His parents assured him she would show up eventually, but he waived them off and planned to spend the evening with his parents alone. When Alyse finally did arrive, they were introduced by Brian and the ice was broken through the mutual love of football and discussing their fantasy football teams.

Alyse and Logan liked each other instantly. Alyse became so nervous at dinner that she forgot which hand should hold the fork and which should hold the knife, after switching them back and forth a few times she glanced over at Logan who was staring at her. Unsure what he was thinking, she thought she blew it, but he actually found her adorable.

As the military ball came to a close, Logan thought "what do I have to lose?" and asked Alyse if she'd like to join him for a drink afterwards, agreeing, they drove to a near-by resturant where they talked and talked until they were kicked out at closing time.

They spent every day the following week together. Watching football, movies, and getting to know one another. On November 14, 2013, Logan turned 25 and spent his birthday with Alyse who had purchased him 3 nice bomber beers to try. Later, he invited her to Las Vegas that weekend to celebrate his birthday with him in another state. Now it was her turn to say "what do I have to lose?" and she agreed to go. They spent the weekend in Vegas together, having just met 15 days prior. This is where their mutual love of Las Vegas emerged, where they would some day get married.
