PHILZY W.O.D.

January 6, 2014

Shortly after my Pops left this place behind, I wanted to do something in his honor.  I decided that a workout to honor my hero would be just the thing I would need to help me through things.  As luck has it, Ted Hawkins at Crossfit Benchmark was kind enough to host the workout, and along with my wife, keep me in check from over programming a hero WOD.  Overall scheme was to total 72, his age when he left.  It is as follows:

PHILZY WOD: (For Time)
1 Mile Run
10 Rounds/ 7 Repetitions

Deadlifts @ Body Weight
Sit To Stands
Burpee Pull Ups
1Mile Run

This WOD reminds me of my Pop's in many ways.  At first glance, it looks intimidating right up front, but once you get passed the look, it's nothing but heart.  Growing up, all of my friends were terrified of my Dad at first, but once they got to know him they learned what I already knew, he was a man of his word.  He stood up for what he believed in and would never hesitate to call things for what they were.  But above all, underneath all of that toughness was a man who had unmeasurable heart.  My closest friends called him Philzy and there wasn't much he wouldn't do for them.  Pops was one of the best parts of my world and will truly be missed.
