His Life

Philippe Thierry Legendre

August 31, 2011

Philippe Thierry Legendre was born at 3 o’clock in the afternoon in Neuilly-Sur-Seine on September 5th, 1965 to Jean Claude and Ann Marie Legendre.

In 1968 the family, together with his older brother Bruno, moved to St Germain en Laye , a suburb of Paris, where Philippe lived from the age of 2 to 12.  He and Bruno were joined by a sister, Caroline.  A loved and easy going child, Philippe loved being outdoors and playing sports:  swimming, tennis, biking, skateboarding, skiing... In 1971, he and his family began spending their summer vacations in the South of France.

At the age of 12 the family moved to the French Riviera where Philippe continued to pursue his love of sports along with his education.  His charisma and ‘joie de vivre’ made him a magnet for people and throughout his life he made new friends and forged many lifelong friendships.

Following graduation from high school Philippe went to College in Paris to study business. From there he went to Vancouver BC for an internship, where he enhanced his English language skills. After returning home from Canada he worked with his father in the grocery industry.  Philippe also traveled to Congo Africa to work on a parimutuel betting business that his family developed there.  Philippe enjoyed business development and had success working in the hospitality industry with the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, and with his second wife Sonya, in the development and opening of the Doves hair studio in Santa Monica.  He also became interested in the financial industry and learned to trade stocks.

Philippe met his first wife, Line in 1992.  They moved together to the United States, married in 1996 and welcomed daughter Marie in 1999.  After the marriage ended, Philippe was living in California and met Sonya through a mutual friend in 2004 – they married in 2006.  They started a business together but the marriage did not survive. During their separation Philippe met Sheida and fell in love, moving with her to Westlake Village where they welcomed their daughter Gia in 2009.

To our great sorrow, Philippe’s life ended tragically on August 18th, 2011.

Philippe was a loving and devoted father to both Marie and Gia and also to Sheida’s son Liam.  He loved his family and friends and enjoyed his life with them.

His loss is deeply felt by all – but we know that he is flying free and his love does not leave us.  Every heart that loved him carries Philippe with them forever.
