A Salute to Phil Shields 1959 - 2014. R.I.P.

The departing of Phil was quite sudden and left behind a family far too young.
A martial arts qi warrior’ who’s symphony was in writing but now is unsung.

A humanitarian with a history of giving’ at the expense of him self.
Practising and sharing Kung fu and Tai Chi’ not for fame or wealth.

From young bloods of Ishinryu’ under the tutelage style of the Karate-do,
He became a champion of GB as his family and friend would know.

From external to internal martial arts’ was the journey’s path taken,
Assisting in helping others medically has their energy’s awaken.

Thou I never got to say goodbye at your moment of your passing and release.
I will continue to carry your spirit with me, may God bless you, and rest in peace.

Life is eternal, and love is immortal,
and death is only a horizon;
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.

Phil is never forgotten. Many years ago I had a flat on the gasgoine Estate, Barking. Phil would pop round mine and we spent time exploring the fighting arts. He was a humble man who I got on well with. He was hanging around with Alan Davis then. I remember when he got into Tal Chi. He was really passionate about it. It was not my sort of thing but I respected his new interest.  I cannot think of anything but positive things when I think of Phil.
Sadly missed.
