Mr. Hanky
Vava, our grandmother, would ask us every year what we wanted on our birthday cakes. In the past, she's been known to draw Looney Tunes characters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and a My Little Pony. In 1998, I was really big on South Park. For my 15th birthday, I wanted a Mr. Hanky on my cake. She had to watch an episode to get an idea of what to draw, so it's kind of cool that I got to subject our grandparents to an episode of South Park. Anyway, this is the cake. You can see Phillip (who was almost eight years old at the time) eying it. I think we broke into it right after this.
I know it's only a few seconds, but my camera back in the day could only record for so long. Phillip loved riding the bumper cars at White Lake each summer. I have a couple of longer videos saved from an old cell phone, but something with the file type doesn't agree with the website, so I'll have to find some way to convert those. One of the videos has Phillip and Daniel chasing each other, and the other is of Phillip wanting to get back on the bumper cars immediately after that.
Hats Off
You can't really tell by this picture, but Daniel is actually the odd man out here by not wearing a hat. One weekend when AJ and I were in town, the four of us ran a couple of errands, and I had a few hats (as is typical of me), and I thought it would be fun for all of us to each wear one around town. I think Daniel wore one for a little bit but then changed his mind about it. I think we're in a Dollar General here, and Phillip is signing the receipt or otherwise paying for the purchase.
I first met Phil online in my middle school years. I had posted a picture of one of my roleplay characters on DeviantART.com and his post came commenting on my character with his character's post to start a friendly roleplay. Since then, we grew close and always shared information about our personal lives and such. We had many fun and great roleplays for many years to come. It wasn't until the year of 2010 when Phillip and I began to actually voice chat and play video games online. We even started to make plans to actually move into an apartment together once I finished college. We never actually knew eachother in person, but regardless his memories and spirit will always be close to my heart. If only I could tell you how much you meant to me, Phillip "Ryan-Boss-Stevens" Grindle. Keep on gaming and roleplaying in your afterlife, Phil. One day we will be together again.
