Phil was a product of the West Point Public Schools. He was the son of the Tommy Lee Thomas and Jeanette Huguley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Monagan, two sisters, Josephine Boyd and Faye Shears, a brother, Joseph Wright and a god-mother, Alberta Scott.
