Phoebe was born in Philadelphia, PA to John Lewis Howell and Bertha L Howell.
She moved to Birmingham as a teenager and attended Ramsey High School. She graduated from the University of Alabama where she was a member of Delta Gamma Social Sorority. Where she served as president as well as president of Panhellenic and listed in “Who’s Who?”
After graduation, Phoebe worked at Bonwit Teller in Philadelphia and later at Galey & Lord in New York. She moved back to Birmingham and worked as an event director at the BJCC. She often volunteered at Birmingham Museum of Art.
Phoebe is survived by her brother, Tommy (Kay);Sister Margot Reid of Merritt island FL; Nephew, Allen Howell (Alicia) and Niece, Elizabeth Compton (Daryl), both of Birmingham.
A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
