Phyllis Marie Christian was born in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the youngest daughter born to George Robinson and Frances “Frank” Taylor Robinson. Her family included an older sister and brother.
Phyllis was baptized in accordance with the Holy Rites of the Roman Catholic Church at Holy Angels Catholic Church. In later years, she attended mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and fellowshipped at Eastern Star Church.
Having received her education in the Indianapolis Public School System, she received her primary education at IPS #87. Phyllis was proud graduate of the renowned and highly esteemed Crispus Attucks High School, where she cultivated friendships she maintained over the years. She truly enjoyed her years at Attucks. She completed her education at the Indiana University Extension in Indianapolis.
Phyllis was industrious and hard working in nature. She began working and attained employment at RCA at a young age. From there she worked a tenure as a data processor at American States Insurance. She became a Supervisor for the State of Indiana in the Department of Aging and Home Healthcare.
Phyllis was a dearly devoted mother to Brigitte, and a doting grandmother to Quinton. She was fun-loving in nature. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and going to the casinos.
Phyllis M. Christian departed this life on June 20, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; siblings, sister, Bette Leavy and brother, Dr. Donald L. Robinson, and beloved nephew, Donald L. Robinson, II.
Her progeny and legacy include her daughter, Brigitte, who she called, “Button”; grandson, Derrick P. Coleman, DeVonte D. Coleman, Dayonne D.Coleman, Damon L. Coleman Quinton D. Alexander; four great grandsons, Quinton Jr. and Zyan ,Dakota Coleman ,and DeVonte D. Harris-Coleman jr., and a granddaughter, Devyn Harris and Zora Alexander, other friends a relatives
