I think of your mother all of the time. I also planned to call Valerie on Prevella's birthday but forgot to do so. She always spoke English very well, and I always practiced doing the same as her. I always think of the first cousins getting married in the same year, which was the year of 1958. The Cousins were Annie Lois, Prevella, Rebecca, and myself, Ada Fleming. I truly miss her. -Ada, Mable, Stell, Juanita, and Guanita.

Anthony. My name is Ree Southward. I would like to offer my deepest condolences to all of you.  Over the years, her sister, Vera, has always talked about Babe Ruth. She would say “my sister, Babe Ruth, can really cook.”  “My sister can do this and my sister can do that.” So sorry for your loss and continued prayers for your comfort.

To our first cousins, Lorraine Anthony, Valeria Roberts, and Edwina Arnold, you have our deepest sympathy as you prepare to lay your mother, Auntie Prevella Anthony to rest. We are deeply saddened that we can’t be present, but we are there in spirit with our arms around you offering comfort in your time of need. We love you and will always be here for you.

Aunt Prevella also known as Auntie Baby Ruth to her family, was and always will be remembered as a strong woman who was loving and kind. We have had many wonderful and fun memories of her throughout the years. She was a pillar of strength in our family, and we will miss her dearly.

We know that God has called this beautiful angel home to her final resting place. It’s times like this that words are hard to say because no one word is sufficient when you lose a piece of your heart. We don’t question God because He knows best, and we know our dear Auntie Prevella needed her rest. She’s not suffering any more pain, and she is with her mother and two sisters in heaven resting comfortably under God’s wings. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Auntie Prevella knows that earth has lost a precious gem.

We as her family believe in God, so we will trust Him always, and continue to hold onto His word. Until we see Auntie Prevella again, we will hold dear to the precious memories she made in her eighty-six years. We love you always.

To the family of Prevella McCary Anthony,

My family sends out sincere condolences to all who Prevella has touched and loved! She was a change maker, community builder, and a sophisticated businesswoman who put her family first. I came to know Prevella through her Daughter Edwina Denise Arnold where our sons, who met in kindergarten and now are 21 years old.

I will always remember her smile. Her legend and contributions will live on through her legacy, Lance, John, Langston, and others. Alex, Alexander, Avery, and Vern wish you all strength and peace, that she is no longer in pain and her love will live within you forever.

To my Cousins, Lorraine, Valerie and Edwina,
Auntie Pervella meant so much to me all of my life. She allowed me to live with her when I was a teenager. She deposited so much into my life which, with the love of my Mother and her; along with the help of God molded me into the woman I am today. I have done nothing but cried since hearing of her illness and due to the pandemic could not come and visit as I would have liked. My thoughts and my prayers are with you all and the rest of our family. The same God that I worship and praise here in Detroit, is the same one there in Alabama. Please know that I am praying your strength, peace and comfort that only God can give. Heaven is the place of the no mores...no more pain, suffering or sorrow. God has her now and she is completely and divinely healed. With all of my love and prayers, I send to you all today, Your cousin, Mary Wiley.

I am Ada B Cobb Fleming, just one of Prevella's first cousins. We are a close family. So close, although we live in different cities, we all got married the same year - 1958 (Prevella, Annie Lois, Rebecca, and myself, Ada B). She was a beautiful cousin, when we went to Birmingham in '05, she let my sister live with her while we stayed at the hospital with our mother. She made us feel welcome to everything. I talked to her on her Birthday. I even sang "Happy Birthday" to her. We love you Prevella!

Edwina,

Please know that I am deeply sorry for the earthly loss of your mother. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family… now and in the future.

I echo the words of our Soror Jacqueline Clenance. I never met your mother. But, I also feel that I know what a strong, intelligent and Godly woman she must have been, in order to have raised a daughter with the same attributes.

Dear Denise & Family, these pictures of your mom are so full of life & zest. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I believe that Ms. Prevella is now with the Lord enjoying His perfect peace. Be comforted and trust that all will be well until you meet again.

Condolences to Soror Edwina Anthony Arnold and family

September 15, 2021
Greeting and condolences to all who knew and loved Mrs.Anthony,

Unfortunately, I only know of the late Mrs. Prevella McCary Anthony through her daughter, Edwina.
However, Edwina is quite a testament to whom Mrs.Anthony must have been.

To have passed the on strength, intelligence, perseverance, kindness and so many other amazing qualities to her daughter is to have embodied and obviously exhibited those quality in her life.

I want Edwina and family to know that those of us in her new home (South Florida) morn this loss with she and her family and pray for their peace and sense of purpose in this transition.

Our deepest condolences.

Jacqueline Hampton Clenance
