Mama Priska Mosinya was one of her  kind; a pillar not only for her family but the community that she belonged to. With a kind and loving heart, those who knew her tell of her selfless sacrifices always seeking to support those less privileged and in need within her circles. Tales are told of how she loved visiting her relatives and friends to ensure that all was okay with them. She ensured no one lacked food in her community as long as she knew about it. In fact, her home was always open to the needy who needed school fees and different type of support. From her dependable character, it was no wonder that the community turned to Mama Priska for leadership in many different community initiatives including water projects, schools committees and numerous women groups among others.
A devout Christian and family woman, Mama Priska raised a family of 9 children with strict discipline and a touch of love and the results in the success of all her children are there for all and sundry. Even after the passing away of her loving husband, Mama Priska remained the pillar of the family offering guidance and support for her children to attain their utmost potential in their various professions and fields of interest.
Those who knew Mama Priska mourn her demise with deep sorrow and sadness for death has robed us a kind soul; a pillar of hope and a woman of strength. They continually hold on the memories of her kindness and selfless service and relish in the good she left behind. Their hearts will remain forever thankful for the gift the Lord gave her to humanity for 78 years she lived amongst us.
The Oigo's (Mama's paternal family) and Nyamwamu's cherished the 78 years that God blessed us with her as a giant of faith, an enterprising woman, a loving and kind matriarch and a community builder.
Those who touch our lives stay in our hearts forever!
So long Mama!

Mum, I was the luckiest of your nine children. Being Mokogoti, I experienced your softest you. While the rest complained of being brought up by a stern and noncomprising you, I only saw gentleness, generosity, understanding and laughter.

I spent real quality time with you. Whenever I asked for something you went out of your way to provide for me.

Now that you have left, I will feel the yawning gap of your absence the most. I wanted you to be there at my wedding with my love Sarah, at the baptism of my children and for me to care for you as last borns for their Mums.
I will truly miss you Mum.
Go well, intercede for us. You will live my heart forever Mum.

To my loved Mama you were special in all fronts and led a selfless life in service of humanity. You were full of life with a strong sense of humour.
You were a fighter and wore a brave face in the midst of adversity. You learned to strengthen yourself in the LORD even when situations were so bad.
When the enemy wanted to waste your destiny, God made a way where there seemed to be no way and restored you.
You have taught us to focus our eyes on God alone, to forgive quickly and serve with love.
Mum you woke up every day at 4am to pray except when when you were sick. The prayers that you have offered for us may they be an acceptable sacrifice before the LORD to sustain and preserve your lineage.
Rest with the angels till we meet again

My one and only loving mama,I did not imagine that you could depart from our midst so soon and so unexpectedly. It happened at a time when we were expecting you to come back to the US after a few months' visit at home. We were already planning your trip back by renewing your passport, but God had already planned a better and different trip for you,to eternity. God's plans surpass all plans that we can make as humans, and so you have rested from the works and pains of this world.

You were the most hardworking and honest woman that I have ever known. I'm not saying this just because God chose you as our mother for me and my siblings, but because you truly were. You were God fearing and had a very close relationshipwith God. Heaven has gained and we have lost. You made sure all your nine children were baptized and set on the right path with God. You taught us to pray together everynight,..its true that a family that prays together, stays together indeed. That is why we have stayed together until now and always will.. You instilled Godliness in us...and truly as the Holy book says in Proverbs 22.6; train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. We are old now, and we all know for sure that God is the only way.

Yet,you still had a lot of space left in your heart for others, near and far.. In the community, you fed passers-by, mentally ill,the poor, your enemies, and anyone else who stopped by. There is none that came and left empty handed if you had something to share. That is why you never lacked mama, and we as your children have not lacked. I developed a passion to help others from you,and I always feel indebted to help out of mercy even where I'm not concerned. You always loved peace, alot of people came to you for peace keeping. You always said the truth and stood with it, and councelled those involved to bring peace.. you were a peace keeper mama.. You will always be my role model mama.

You were wise, focused, organized, a disciplinarian yet you loved us deeply. I wish I could be a half of you.. You gave us tough love which is the reason why we are who we are.
Tirelessly, with God's help and others, you raised all 9 of us and miraculously saw us through school...how you did it,only God knows. You valued education very much, you were able to keep up with each one of us....how did you do that mama?

You were an iron lady yet you were loving and forgiving deep inside.. I am your witness, you had forgiven everyone that inflected wounds in your heart. You taught us to forgive....sometimes we could say to ourselves,if mama has forgiven so and so,why should we carry them in our hearts?that led to me finding out that, there is no enemy big enough to not forgive and keep me from the kingdom of heaven. You forgave even those that are humanly not possible to forgive, but you forgave them all. How huge was your heart mama?

Spiritually, I know that you have gone to a better place, where you have attained eternal rest, but physically,I am in pain. The pain of missing you each day,the pain of the reality that I'm never gonna see you again on this earth. All I wanted to do was to give you the very best,to see you smile and be as comfortable as humanly possible. The 2 years and 2 months that you lived with us shall forever stay in our memories. I remember your unending stories about life,..oh,how you knew to tell stories!you were a great orator, you could have written books..for others to read, but for us,we lived the story with you,and we were part of your story, the same way you are part of our story.

While you lived with us,you raised my son Mogambi(whom you named after our departed loving brother)right from the day he was born...you ate with him, played with him(he sat by your feet for the most part of the day)and you even slept with him....he was close to you even more than he was close to me....My big son Henry, was so fond of you, teasing each other all the time...now he is sad and heartbroken, knowing that death has snatched away a friend, a grandma. My husband is still in disbelief!he highly respected you, and always acknowledged your uniqueness. Where most mothers will always defend their children even when they are wrong, mama always stood for the truth and was able to correct me if I was wrong. She never defended wrong. He appreciated you and he will always miss you....who can fill that gap for us mama????

We miss you alot in our house mama. When I received the horrible news of your departure,I went to your room as if expecting to find you there.....everything was sitting in its place, the same way you left it,being the most neat and organized person I have ever met in my life, even still in your golden years. You left everything intact because you were coming back next month, but you have gone to the everlasting home instead. You can never come back to us,but we will come to you...how glorious will that day be?when we shall meet with our loved ones, never to be departed again!when the sting of death shall be no more!we will sing and rejoice for Jesus will call us by our names and say, welcome home my friends!you have fought a good fight, you have finished the race, and you have kept the faith. He will wipe away our tears and there will be no more sorrow,no more death, and no more pain, forever and ever more. Sleep well mama, rest well my love. Till we meet again at the feet of Jesus Christ.....

Mum  I want to address you Oyo bw’Oigo. That is how I fondly called you Mum when I visited you or called you on phone. Then you would laugh sweetly and reply as follows: “naki oyo’Nyamwamu?”

Mum was very clear what her purpose here on earth was: she was here to ensure that her children knew and loved God, married/got married, gave her and Dad grandchildren. Mum wanted us her children to give her honor in the community and the world. And because of this, Mum had a special relationship for each of us. I know the relationship I had with you was very special. I know how giant the expectations you had on me were but I also know how deep and faithful your prayers for me were.

You loved us your children, you gave your all to us, even under very trying moments. You loved us, guided us, taught us the values of respect for self and others, honesty, hard work, faith in God ,determination, cleanliness, orderliness, discipline. And you demanded that everyone must learn to be strong like the leg tendons… kong’a buna omoki bwe’kerenge.

My lasting memories of you Mum will be simple:  you were a very hardworking passionate woman of strength who never wavered in your support and love for your family, the Church and God. Mum you soldiered on even when times were very hard. You were a survivor. There is no challenge you did not have the will to face.

Mum’s rosary and the daily prayer at 5 am religious is the reason she was so strong yet so tender and loving. Her faith was in the Lord. You had a deep relationship with God which gave you so much peace

Your leadership qualities were well grounded. Mama, you were truly a hero, a role model, a mentor and a mother figure, not only to your children but to many others in our community, family and friends far and wide.

I love you so much Mama. Your sudden departure is very painful, but I live with the hope that you have rested in the Lord, for blessed are those that rest in the Lord. You gone ahead to a better place, in the presence of Jesus who you loved dearly and to intercede for us, until we meet again on that resurrection morning.

Eternal rest grant to Mama Priska Mosinya O Lord. May perpetual light shine upon you.

Rest in Peace Mama.

Amen

Mama,
I thank God for allowing our paths to connect through your son Cyprian, my husband whom I love deeply and cherish.
The day Cyprian told me he wanted me to meet you and dad, I was very anxious, I wanted to do everything to ensure the encounter was perfect because I wanted to win you and gain your trust and love. I bought you a few gifts to please you and your family at home. You did not see the gifts, you saw me and you loved me. You accepted me despite contrary opinions. You gave me a Kisii name only to later find out that I had one. You welcomed me into your home with a lot of love. You gave me confidence and always assured me of your support despite the season/stage of marriage. You taught me how to cook using the traditional means, you never rushed me or showed disappointment when I did not meet your expectation. You just encouraged me. You fought for me and my marriage and ensured that I was always happy and settled. You did this not only for me but also my 2 co-wives. Mama, thank you for being there for me and s your daughters in law in good times and even difficult times. Thank you for loving me and us unconditionally. Thank you for trusting me with your son, Cyprian. I know the bond the two of you shared was deep.
I will pick 4 lessons among the many and I will ensure I teach these to my children as part of continuing your legacy.
1. To be there for people. You were always there for people Mama. You supported everyone in their journey of life and ensured you did what you could in your capacity to make them happy.
2. To love despite everything. You loved even those who did not deserve your love. You were patient with them and encouraged us to love even when it was difficult.
3. That marriage is divine. Family is divine and most important. That when we say for better or worse, we have to mean it and trust God to help us. Your life was a perfect example that despite the challenges, marriage was worth fighting for. You have taught me to fight for my marriage and my children’s marriages, to be the best mother to the daughters my sons will marry. Mama, you have fought for us, your daughter in laws to ensure that we stayed happy and peaceful in our homes and yours. You ensured that justice had to prevail in all situations and the family where the 3 of us came from feel honoured. Your marriage stories have inspired me and encouraged me because of how God helped you to transform every test into an amazing testimony. We have discussed your marriage at length and laughed seriously at the jokes you cracked. I thank God for allowing you to inspire and mentor me through your experiences.
4. To be disciplined and determined. You never procrastinated. When you put your mind to doing something or ensuring something was done. You followed it to the end. You valued good character and education and insisted that we must bring up our children well.
5. To put God first. You loved God and served Him through your marriage, children, family and community. Not even sickness could make you miss your morning prayer. You prayed for all of us by Name and encouraged us to have faith in God in all life situations.
Mama, thank you for being an amazing mother. Thank you for raising a great man for me. I am privileged to be your daughter. Your death was sudden and hurts deeply but I accept the will of God. To me, you are not gone. Your legacy will live forever. Until we meet again, rest peacefully in our fathers arms.

My take about Prisca Mosinya.1.She liked and loved people to stay in peace.2.She was outspoken and open hearted on issues touching on the family.3.I shall luck her advice on matters partaining to family.4.She would not wish anybody to infrinch on her fundamental rights and freedoms and vice versa.5.She loved her family intimately.6.She was a good Christian ,loved her faith and God.7.I personally as brother learned learned a lot from her as my sister and being older than, taught me a lot.8.She used to send me some gifts and pocket money when I was in high school.9.As a humaFn being she made mistakes but would soon retract and make amends according to Galatians 5:13_15.
Above all I shall miss her love to me as a brother.Amen.

Her Life

Mama Priska Mosinya and her health

April 19, 2021
Mama Priska generally enjoyed a robust healthy life most of her life as a senior citizen. In 2019, she underwent a hip replacement surgery and travelled to the US for  specialized treatment under the care of her children Petronilla (who is a nurse) and Simeon. She was there for 2 years and returned to her community in December 2020 after successful recuperation.

Mama Priska generally enjoyed a healthy life after returning to Kenya and earlier this year she started experiencing recurring back and joint pain. She travelled to Nairobi for review and effective treatment in March 2021. During her stay in Nairobi for this treatment, she contracted COVD-19 and was admitted at Bellevue Hospital in an isolation ward and later transferred to HDU to receive specialized treatment for COVID-19 complications. Her condition improved for some  days and there was hope that she will pull through but unfortunately succumbed to the pangs of the disease on Sunday 18, April 2021 at 9.30pm.

Mama Priska Mosinya and Church

April 19, 2021
Mama Priska Mosinya was a devout catholic who throughout her service in church was renowned for her commitment and dedication in growing Sengera Parish and later Ogembo where she served as the Chairlady of The Catholic Women Association.  Her devotion in supporting church activities earned her the name, Mama Mkatoliki, as she relentlessly supported young seminarians to undergo their training until their ordination. She also supported countless priests and and catechists in the cause of their ministry in different churches. In addition to this, Mama Mosinya was instrumental in building of churches, growth of small Christian groups and formation of young Christians in the faith being very active in the Mercy Ministry.

To many, she was a lay Apostle who lived out her calling to the fullest; and this is what gave her the greatest joy.
