We miss you dearly Big Daddy but I am consoled that you are in a better place

Thank you Big Daddy for being a father, for the mentoring, for all the calls, follow ups and assistance.
Death has cheated me again but my consolation is the good life you lived on Earth and the lives you touched.

I know there will be another fellowship in heaven, until we meet to part no more

Remembering the late Sir Dr. Linus Amobi Ilika

"Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed.” Is. 61:9

In the village, when the Iroko tree falls, the sound echoes across the hills and valleys. So it was with the death of Dr. Linus Amobi Ilika of Ozubulu. He grew up in the community, among his own people. Already from his student years in the early Seventies, he made serious efforts towards the development of the town. Amobi rallied other students and motivated them. He had a word of greeting for everyone as he took a walk across the winding paths of the village. He would not normally take the main road; he preferred the inner paths, in order to meet more people and stop for a greeting. The names of the titled elders were known by heart and he gave due attention to everyone. Hardly was he in a hurry, but he achieved more than every other person.
Both within the Church and in the wider society, Amobi was a great achiever; with a humane spirit, he gave testimony of uprightness. As a fervent Christian and a Knight, he was exemplary and had time for prayer. As a Youth Leader, he was a model for the young Ozubulites. As a Good Samaritan, he was attentive to the unfortunate. As a dedicated Doctor, he had time for his patients. As a Professor, he knew how to communicate difficult scientific facts in simpler terms. As a State Commissioner, he understood the meaning of community service. As a loving Husband and a Father, he knew how to find the way home, where paternal duty called.
In Dr. Amobi, we see an excellent Christian through whom God has blessed his family and humanity. Through the Holy Sacraments, he participated in the full life of Christ. The tribute we now pay to him is to acknowledge his accomplishments and to emulate his good example. May the Good Lord receive him with mercy as he approaches the heavenly Paradise.
To his dedicated wife and young children, we express our deepest sympathy. In these difficult times of the pandemic, it will not be easy to organize a fitting funeral. However, you will know what to do, and how to do it well. The Lord will be your strength. May your loving dad rest in peace.
We humbly pray the Almighty and Merciful God to grant his divine blessings and his spiritual consolation to all the members of Ilika-Anumba family, and to all who mourn his passing away.
