Good night to a very decent human being--Prof. Boniface O. George
The sad news of your eternal transition reached us only two days ago. It will take me and my wife, indeed our family, a little bit of time to process the unexpected sad news particularly because of the situation-imposed conditions on our lives about three decades ago and in more recent years, undesired but necessary self-designed and managed dislocation/relocation imposed on all of us contemporaries reduced interactions and communication. However the joy and happy memories of at least four decades enjoin that it can never be too late to pay tribute to a superbly worthy man, a family man, a practicing believer in faith, a compassionate cardiologist, a shining star to his younger colleagues and indeed a Selig in whatever environment—St Gregory, Niger Coll., Medical school in Ireland, CMUL/LUTH, Nigeria Medical Association, Consultant cardiology positions in Arabian Gulf. Wherever you worked you gave your best.
We, your contemporaries still alive, cannot but remember the good and productive many years we spent together in LUTH/CMUL as well as the extraordinary years of quality service and teaching in the Arabian Gulf. Your clinical proficiency earned you so much admiration of a Royal Court in the Arabian Gulf such that you were the one, among qualified equals, invited to be the Consultant Cardiologist to a royal mother/wife until she passed on at an old age! That was an attestation to who you were as a competent and compassionate health caregiver at the level of a Consultant Cardiologist.
We commiserate with Nana, your dear wife, and your family, nuclear and larger, who will miss you enormously. However, they will always be happy that your memory is blessed and will continue to be.
I end this tribute with a quote: “At twilight when the day is done, and the sunset flames the sky, we think of you and the days gone by. Thoughts of you drifting back within our dreams to stay to know that you are resting when the twilight ends the day”
Good night Bros Olu.
