His Life

My Father's Son

October 31, 2013

A first son in word and deed.

A man of very humble beginning but an outstanding example of how one can carve a niche and chart an excellent course in life.

First among the foremost sons of Nnung Enang, Ikot Ubo, Akwa Ibom and Nigeria, he aspired to be the best and attained vast global recognition. A most outstanding academic, family man and bridge builder. He believed in the unification of estranged people and the forging of bonds of friendship and understanding among peoples and nations.

Widely travelled, honoured and celebrated as a foremost Agronomist of international repute, he has by dint of hard work and diligent service risen to the highest frontiers of professional life and received most coveted honours including:

1. Member, Review Board of Agriculture and Biology Journal of North America (ABJNA) Awarded by Journal of North America (ABJNA) in 2009.

2. Fellow, Indiana Academy of Science (IAS) awarded by Indiana Academy of Science, U.S.A, 2006 Cited as the Person of the Year 2004 by the American Biographical Institute, Inc. Biographical Institute Inc.,  2004

3. Granted the 21st Century Award for Achievement in recognition of his “outstanding contribution”, International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England, 2004.

4. Honoured to receive the World Medal of Honour; The American Biographical Institute Inc., 2004.

5. Cited in the 2003 Edition of the Contemporary Who’s Who; The American Biographical Institute, 2003.

A loving husband, great father, a dependable family man, a self-less giver and repository of edifying humour.

In every dimension a very principled personality, my father's first son remains in my thoughts a most profound and accomplished BIG brother. For me, it has been a great and grand experience trailing behind him as his immediate brother.

I am delighted that he has birthed great lights whom he has conscientiously tutored through his exemplary lifestyle and in God’s ways.

I salute his wife and children:

-       Mbakara (Wife)

-       Idorenyin (Daughter)

-       Mfoniso (Son); and

-       Eka (Daughter)

I am grateful to the Almighty for bringing such a great man my way and wish also to seize this opportunity to encourage all of his own (wife, daughters, son, siblings, friends, colleagues and loved ones) to strive to pass on his great legacies by living a simple and good life, just like he did.
