Quintons Eulogy

April 6, 2014

Quinton James Donovan White

Many of you probably don’t know who I am. Quinton and his older sister Keesha came to live with my family just before Quinton’s first birthday. He was a New Years baby. Maybe that explains his love of fireworks? His Mom said that every year, including this past year, when asked what he wanted for Christmas he always answered “fireworks!” Keesha and Quinton lived with us for two and half very treasured years, and have remained a part of our family. They have been my brother and sister since I can remember, and they always will be.

Whether you called him, Quinton, Quincy Jones, Friend, Cousin, Brother, Son, Grandson, or Q-ball, Quinton James Donovan White is a one of a kind, precious gem, or in his Grandmother’s words, “a frickin awesome guy”. I know that for each of you here today, he holds a very special place in your heart. Your presence is cherished and reminds all of us of the impact and influence Quinton left in our hearts and in this world.

Quinton has always had many qualities and strengths, to adequately summarize all of them in one speech would be impossible. Quinton has always had a way of bringing a smile to peoples faces—sometimes without even meaning to be funny. I can remember one time Quinton came for visit after moving back to Kikino when he was probably 5, my Dad reminded Quinton he wasn’t allowed to swear. However, shortly after going downstairs to play, my brother Zack came running up the stairs, horrified that Quinton had said something that rhymes with “truckin witch”. My Dad called Quinton upstairs in a stern voice and said, “Don’t you be talkin’ like that”, and Quinton, overcome with remorse, sobbed out “Oh dad I was just bullshitting”.

Quinton also had a mischievous prankster side. His Mom had been given a picture that was very special to her and Quinton decided to hide it in the attic, blaming its disappearance on Uncle Jon. After a few days, Quinton finally brought it out, and through his laughter and handed it back to his mom. Quinton had a great sense of humor, as I am sure many of you know.

Capable of making us all smile and laugh, Quinton also has a very sharp mind, a keen eye, and a way of making everyone feel comfortable. Quinton has always been very sensitive to the needs of others, and he never wants anyone to be unhappy. He is always on the lookout to see what he can do to help or how he can lend a hand. He is also a peacemaker, and an amazing problem solver.

Quinton always had a special bond with his Papa. His Papa called him “Ups-chii-niece”, which means “little man”. If Quinton would ask his Grandma to use the vehicle and get turned down, he would just ask Papa, and Papa would say “Here’s the keys, my boy”. Quinton loved to chauffer his Papa around, or really anyone for that matter. Quinton was always good to his sisters and knew how to make them smile and feel special. He also loved hanging out with his friends, building things, taking things a part and quadding. Hunting was also something he enjoyed; I heard they got a moose once when Quinton went out with Tristan and his uncle. Last night I had the honor of meeting two of Quinton’s many friends, I wish I could have met all of you, under different circumstances.

Quinton’s love of chips and pop, his “swag”, or his ability to always be cool is something we will all remember. He has taken a piece of all of our hearts, he will always be loved and forever missed. So Quinton, thank you for being a part of our lives and making the world a better place, we all wish you were still here. I love you, my brother.

My One & Only

April 6, 2014

We miss your eyes, your smile and the cheer you brought each and everyone of us ,our hearts each has a hole we never knew loneliness until you went away, I would give my life away if it could only be the same, Becuase I cant still the voice inside me thats calling out your nam, Looking at the foot prints you left on our hearts nothing else compares, no one can ever take your place not a single moment is the same without you, not a single day goes by that your not thought of, its just not the same.....

It's hard to believe A year has gone by Since you chose to leave us We still wonder why "What ifs" and "If onlys" Race through our heart We wish that you never Had to depart Our hearts are broken What more can we say We will love you forever And miss you each day.
