​Bio of Madam Rachael Adegbolagun Aina Olowu

Madam Rachael Adegbolagun Aina Olowu was born on February 3rd, 1938 into the family of Pa Awe Aderibigbe of Ioso quarters, Ogbagi-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria. Her mother was Madam Utiola Alice Aderibigbe from Iwu quarters of Ogbagi Akoko.

Madam Rachael Olowu started her early education at St. John’s Anglican School, Ogbagi Akoko. Afterwards she moved on to Jubilee Grammar School at Ikare Akoko. She later became a Teacher at Edu-Igbesa.

Madam Olowu worked as a Ward Maid at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Nigeria and got married to the love of her life, Late Pa Clement Olufemi Olowu on May 30, 1965 in Ogbagi-Akoko, Nigeria. They both lived and worked in Ibadan, Oyo State for several years. After resigning from UCH, she became a sewing mistress, making wedding dresses, cakes and other confectioneries.

In 1976, after the creation of Ondo State, they relocated to Akure, the state capital. To further her studies, Madam Olowu attended the Teacher’s Training College, Ikere-Ekiti. Thereafter she taught at various schools in Akure, including Methodist Primary School and St. Peter Primary School. 

Madam Rachael Olowu was raised, baptized and confirmed in the Anglican Church. In her quest for spiritual growth, she and her family joined the Celestial Church of Christ in 1972. She and her husband, Late Pa Olufemi Olowu brought the first parish of Celestial Church to Ogbagi-Akoko and was later installed as Mama Ijo of C.C.C. Parish 1, City of God. 

After relocating to the United States, she started attending the Redeemed Christian Church of God where she was a prayer warrior elder with her husband until she was called to glory. A born-again believer, she raised her children in the way of the Lord.

Madam Rachael Olowu was very industrious and hard working. She imbibed these qualities from her father and mother. When Madam Olowu was still agile, she will cultivate farms at any opportunity of open land. She used the harvests on her farm to feed her family for several years. She was involved in several trades & ventures like poultry, catering, textiles, to name a few.

Madam Rachael Olowu is survived by her 3 children; Mrs. Oluyemi Olubunmi Olowu-Awodiya, Mr. Emannuel Oluwole Olowu and Ms. Olufunke Celestina Olowu-Ekundayo; grandchildren – Olatomiwa, Olasubomi and Pipelola Awodiya; Ayodelemi and Bamisegun Ekundayo; Mimololuwa Olowu; David, Peter, Tobi & Seyi Adeniyi; adopted daughter Mrs Odunayo Sule.

Her junior sisters are: Abigail Ubitonola Bayode, Esther Eniayewu Aribisala and Roseline Abosede Aderibigbe-Adeniyi. She is also survived by Prof. Daniel Olawale (son-in-law) and Dr. Folake Familusi-Olowu (daughter-in-law)
