Rachel M. Karahoca, 93, of Allentown, PA, passed away in April 2021. She was the wife of the late “Ace” Karahoca for 56 years. Born in Puerto Rico, Rachel was the beloved daughter of the late Maria Navas. She graduated secretarial school, and became a switchboard operator.  In 1949 Rachel worked at the St. Regis Hotel in NYC in room service.  Rachel and Ace owned Mindy’s Restaurant in Coney Island, and Ace’s Coffee Shop in Copiague, NY.  They retired, moved to Allentown and worked for Food Service at Cedar Crest College.

Rachel enjoyed growing garden vegetables and conquering challenging jigsaw puzzles.   She delighted in family, made friends quickly, and generously shared her warmth, infectious laughter, quick wit and signature arroz-con-pollo with everyone.  In Rachel’s home, family celebrated both Christmas and Ramadan.

Rachel was predeceased by her treasured sister Helen (Gilbert) , and two young brothers. Her memory lives on with son “Abe” (Nancy), daughter Zehra (Dave), step-son Fikret (Ayse), grandchildren Philip (Laurie) and Sera (Mark) and four great grandchildren. Rachel is interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park.  Contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
