Rachel was an amazing person all around, she was always so happy and bubbly and so dang sassy!! She moved across the street from me in cowarts 3 years ago and I can never be so thankful that they did. I’m so glad I was able to meet Rachel and thankful she came into my life. She became one of my bestest friends ever and me and her spent almost everyday together. We would share our stories together, give each other advice and so many laughs were shared together. There was never a time she was not there for me. She always showed up and was always there, if you were in a bad mood she would always make you feel 100% better. Even just seeing her face you immediately didn’t feel bad anymore. Her smile and laugh were so contagious. She lit up a room. I was the one who got her , her job at Xtreme Air trampoline park bc I worked there at the time and she wanted to work with me so bad, so I got her that job and she met so many people there that she impacted. In my opinion, she was one of the best workers there bc she always had a smile on her face and always played with the kids. She would always come up there when I was working and she wasn’t and just come to see me and hangout with me. But, one thing I will never forget is the time she was so scared and so nervous for her first day at Wallace. I was the one who helped her set up her schedule at Wallace bc she knew I had been there for a while. And I will never forget the day she sent me videos on Snapchat of how nervous she was going in and how she was scared she wasn’t going to see anyone she knew. And I gave her so much advice and told her not to worry, that everyone feels like that on their first day and that she may feel like she will not see anyone she knows but once she got in there she would see people she would know, or make friends with her classmates. And what did she do? Make friends with people in her classroom bc that’s the type of person she was. She never met a stranger. She always made friends with anyone. Rachel will never be forgotten and her memories will never fade. She was the most amazing person I had ever met. And I love and miss Rachel so much!!! I hope she’s dancing with the angels up there and having the time of her life especially with all the doggies!!

Rachel and Jake would come to my house and watch movies with us. She would come swim and just hang out. We love her so much. Her smile and soft voice sound so sweet. I will always remember the way she would say “I don’t know”,or “Jake stop it” when they would play. If you knew her voice. Beautiful lady she is. Heaven has got a good girl up there. Will always be missed.
Prayers for your family,
Alison, Malory, Lanie, James and Rachel

From the time Rachel was 9 or 10 years old, she or she and her friends would ride their bikes to the Headland Animal Shelter to look at the dogs and ask many questions about each one. She always wanted to volunteer but she had to wait until she was old enough, but that didn't keep her from coming to visit. When she was finally old enough, she did volunteer and was very good with the dogs, they loved her. She always seemed drawn to the dogs who needed her special touch and gave it willingly. Of course she wanted to take them all home with her and finally convinced Dena to let her adopt Max. We came to love this little girl with her big heart for animals. Rachel will always hold a special place in the heart of our C.H.A.R.M. volunteers.

Angel of Hope Statue At Westgate Park.

“She’s One Of The Rare Ones, So Effortlessly Herself, And The World Loves Her For It “
Today I had this floral arrangement placed in the arms of the Angel Of Hope for Rachel Mitchell and for her loving family and friends.
Rachel is the loving daughter of Dena and Thomas Mitchell and the loving little sister to her dear brother....Bret Mitchell.
Jake Ingram is Rachel’s special love and her very best friend.
She graduated last year from Headland High School and was attending Wallace College with plans of pursuing a career in nursing.
Because of Rachel’s huge loving heart she had a passion for helping stray animals and it was never a big surprise when she wanted to bring them home with her.
If you noticed the flip flops in the arrangement along with the radiant colored flowers like the colors of a beautiful sunset at the beach....well that was all for Rachel who loves the beach and for all of the special times her and her mom had together at the beach.
To Rachel’s parents....
All of us in the Wiregrass community are heartbroken over the loss of your precious daughter. Knowing that there’s nothing that we can say that will ease your pain... We want you to know that you are in our prayers and that we love you and that we are here for you.

Rachel you are one of the rare ones and we all love you for it.

I will rember Rachel from Being a Teenage Volunteer at Southeast Health. She was a sweet polite young lady, When she came in to volunteer she would always know where to go and work, if she did not should would always ask, and we would call a nursing floor or somewhere for her to work. She will be missed by many I know. But I know I will see her smiling face again one day.

Her Life

About Rachel

February 23, 2021
Rachel attended Headland High School, Class of 2020.  She was full of  life and had a contagious smile.  She lived life to the fullest. She didn't meet a stranger.  She was sassy, funny and definately blonde.  She loved her family and the beach.
Here is a poem from her grandfather:

A beautiful flower
When we see a beautiful flower we want it to be ours forever. But as soon as we pick it off the vine it begins to die . You can shade it , you can love it and put it in water but we don’t know how long it’s going to be ours . So we watch it every day and tend to it’s every need . Then one day it’s gone . And we wonder what if , what if I had left it on the vine , what if I had left it in the sun , what if oh lord what have I done .
God's thoughts are higher than ours. He has purposes we can't comprehend. The taking of a beautiful flower , a child ,has broken a family’s hearts . The grieving family has made others take a closer look at their own children, to love them a little harder , to show them compassion in their misdeeds. To show them through Christ is the only path they must follow . To prepare them that life can be over in a second. For parents should not presume their children will bury them . Leave those flowers on the vine of God through the Son .And when God takes that beautiful flower that you picked off the vine , just know it will not die but live forever with him .
Rachel’s life was just as long as God knows is best. I can't explain His purposes, and no explanation can or should remove a parent's grief. But I do know God's ways are best, and one day we will have a much clearer picture.

Cheerleading game

February 23, 2021
One night while at a football game in Abbeville, Lexi and Rachel were pee wee cheerleaders.  A lightning storm came up and everyone evacuated. Rachel came home with us.  While riding down the road I said- "What's that smell".  Rachel said, " Well, Ms. Tenille, I did take my shoes off" and giggled.  She said' "you want me to throw them out the window?".  I said- NO Rachel- Don't throw your shoes out the window, your mom will beat us both.
