Deeply saddened to wake up to the news of Raucous passing on this morning .We were batch mates at St Stephen’s class of 78 but had lost contact till reconnected by other class mates Pachy and Ranjan. Enjoyed sharing stories on the rivalry of La- Martiniere Lucknow Vs Cal ( our respective schools ) ,places to eat in Lucknow where Raucous had deep roots and visited often to supervise his farmlands .
Raucous was a regular to college get togethers at home and outside .At one of the recent dos at Delhi Golf Club saw him clad in a dusted college blazer wearing the college crest “ Lal Sitara “ on his heart .
A guy who lived alone but was never lonely with a wide network of friends .A perfect host at his legendary home dinners which could do many a home maker proud for the table laid out with amazing fare served with his unmatched warmth and hospitality .
Last meeting was before the lockdown over an impromptu lunch with Raucous , Sushil Dahiya and Ranjan at Pinxto , Gurugram .We did not realise this would be our last else would have lingered the lunch longer to spend more moments with Raucous .
RIP Raucous ... You will live in our hearts forever .

A genteel gentleman and buddy for 43 years to be precise. I am unable to comprehend how fate can be so cruel to this affable gentle soul. Rest in Peace Dear Friend. The good karmas and kind acts of yours will ensure that your new abode will be everything you asked for and Raucus's Delight. You wore your erudition with aplomb and I have never seen you speak a harsh word. Will miss you dearly. You invited me several times to chill in your mango farm in Lucknow. I now regret why I did not accept your invite. Your passing on will be an irreplaceable loss to not just your family but also to the myriads of friends who you impacted. I pray God Almighty to give your family all the strength to bear this momentous grief. Keep a watch on me from wherever you are buddy. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.

Rakesh was one of my first bridge partners when I moved to Gurgaon 12 years ago. He was patient with all my mistakes and a great player. He was kind, larger than life, generous and had a lovely sense of humour.  A good friend, a good father and a good man. We didn't meet often over the past year and I am sorry about that. Rakesh, you will be missed by everyone whose life you touched.

Rakesh was a college mate and then a (ferocious!) client at Nestle when I was with HTA. We didn't meet for a while but then he contacted me a few years ago when he was running his own company and we discussed some business. I will always be grateful to him and remember him fondly because he brought me back into bridge, a game I had given up for years. We played together for quite a while, but sadly not recently. I had messaged him a few days ago but got no reply, which was not unusual as he used to respond at leisure, and so wasn't overly concerned. This is shocking news and I pray that he rests in peace after a fairly tough time with his ailment. 7NT bid and made, Rakesh. You're in a better world.

Rakesh,
A great friend . A lovely human and as large as they come .
Hurtling down bouncers at a phenomenal pace .
Growing up together since 1969 .
Fierce and forthright , never minced his words .
Strove for excellence constantly .
Indefatigable .
Lived up to the School motto
Labor et Constantia
And that of his House
Nil Desperandum .
Will be remembered as a very very fine soul .

This is very sad news. Rakesh (Raucous in Stephens), and I had been together since Class 1 in Lucknow and then in St Stephens. He has been a good friend. Very fond of reading (we exchanged and read ever single Biggles, Gimlet, Tarzan, Billy Bunter, Enid Blyton ...) collecting curios and comics — of which he would have one of the best in the world, with a zest for life and good living. In some ways, Rakesh has left for a better world, a world of many more hues and splendour befitting the luxury he was brought up in. Rest well my friend and May joy be with u

Rakesh was one of my closest friends at school. I remember him visiting us in Srinagar during the summer holidays in 1973. Years later my future wife was offered a job at Nestle. She was asked to meet this guy called Rakesh Seth for information on next steps. An uncanny reconnection. We have stayed in touch thereafter every now and then. What I will never forget is his energy, enthusiasm and drive. RIP Rakesh. You will be forever missed.

This is a sad day. Got to know Rakesh in school in Lucknow, a friendship that deepened over three years in St. Stephen's in Delhi. Many warm and fuzzy memories. He used to always ask me, "Library challah hai?" (coming to the library?) in that unique Lucknow way. His enthusiasm was infectious, and remained so during our high school reunion in Lucknow a few years ago. May his soul rest in peace. Deepest condolences to your children, Rakesh. I know you (his children) will be comforted by the fact that he is now in a more peaceful state.

Saddened to hear of Raukus passing on.
Besides the interesting friendship in college, we enjoyed the good times in London, playing cards at each other’s place around Diwali with a group of friends; taking our young families to safari parks. Also I took him to Blenheim Palace in UK, somehow I told him it was Woodstock location. Till he corrected me some years later saying that Woodstock was in USA!
Rest in peace, my friend.
