Ralph was born to Ralph and Theresa Buck Buchanan. He was adopted and raised by Mike and Diana Dickerson Wenzel. Surviving are his father and stepmother, his adoptive mother and stepfather, three sisters, Jennifer Wenzel-Hill and Dora Wenzel-Orozco, and Tami Wenzel-Riggenbach; one half-sister, Kally Buchanan; two step-brothers, Brad Casley and Bobby Buchanan, three step-sisters, Patricia Casley and Julie Calley-Smith, and Michelle Casley-Burgess and one foster brother, Chris Smith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Buck and his adoptive father, Mike Wenzel.
He was in active service with the Navy on a tour of duty in Central America aboard the USS Fife. He was on active duty as an interior comminications electrician for five years. He was found unresponsive in a swimming pool on Aug 21st 2002 in Costa Rica.
