This is a "snap shot" of Randy's life

Born and raised in Clovis, New Mexico. Randy had an old fashioned childhood filled with delightful and warm memories from his school years. His Clovis High School 67 years were his most precious. He designed and enjoyed maintaing the Clovis High 67 website. http://www.clovishigh67.com/

He loved flying and therefore became a pilot as a young man.

He and his buddy's The Mississippi Crooks (named after the cigar)  all have the same type of heart! Jeff Cornell, Mike Reynolds, Stan Horton and Jim Honeycut. As Randy would say.."Hey brothers, we kicked the same dirt together".

Randy was especially fond of and was loved deeply by his Grandfather, on his Mother's side. Grandpa Moorman. His mother Betty Jo Moorman ( whom he loved so much)  and his father Dusty Rhodes ( Cheif of police in Clovis,NM,  CSI in Santa Fe, NM  and a devout Mason).

He had 5 Basket Ball Scholorships and chose Portales, New Mexico because he was eligable to play the first year. Two years later he was drafted into the Navy, where he was a Communication Technician, other missions included Spain and Maine. He was proud of his work in the Navy.

Randy met Janet, she was the Princess in his life. They were together for a short time of 7-9 years. In this time they raised two wonderful daughters, Jessica Martinez and Kristen Coffin.

Randy loved camping and traveling with their wonderful friends Doug and Sharon Estep (a 45 year long friendship!)

Honorablly discharged from the Navy and life changes, he met Georgia, whom was the Warrior woman in his life. They lived and loved passionately on Mount Desert Island and Blue Hill, Maine for nearly 26 years or more. In Maine he tapped into his pilot skills in a plethora of ways including a Civil Air Patrol Pilot, He was a Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Master Guide and was an avid Angler, hunter and a gifted navigator. He had many o' hunting and fishing with his friends, Bob LaForge and Barry Thomas.

As Randy moved through more passages of his life, he met and married April who is the Queen. He and April moved to New Mexico in 2002 and built a beautiful complex on the river in Tularosa, NM. April's daughters Liz Abbott and Rebecca Thomas enjoyed many wonderful adventures to their Tularosa  home. They then sold this to purchase a small home in Alamogordo, NM and their next  "dream" property in Dover Foxcroft, Maine with high hopes of  seasonal adventurers.

Randy was respected by the Mescalero Apache Tribe, NM, he was an employee for Inn of the Mountain Gods for nearly 5 years. Donna Stern was his best friend in Mescalero who supported and respected his wonderful spirit of friendship and caring.

Randy got to have his last Maine trip in June 2012 with his wife April and his best friends Stan and Emily Hartgar Horton of New Mexico. Randy got to see his best friends Tom and Buba (Diana) Johnson of Mount Desert Island, randeveauxed with his daughter Kristen in Boston and had a memorable cook-out put on by Randy's brother in Law's Mike and Steve Wiehn on Randy and April's Maine dream property.

Randy was on oxygen 24/7 and stated that he felt so much better in Maine due to the elevation, Maine made him smile as the ocean and woods hugged him inside and out.

Randy's body was failing him, but his heart and spirit were filled with vitality. He faught with tenacity and diligence for what he believed in.  Randy quietly struggled with PTSD after his service in Vietnam and finally found some healing in 2011.

He was a Knight in Shinning Armor, worked hard and was a good provider. His wife April helped him through his last years with creativity, strength and felt blessed by his over flowing loving spirit.

His wife April and his close friend Grace Hartgar Cervin were by his side when he passed. Letting him know the strength he has given to his daughters, to his grand-children Alec, Ilea and Micah Martinez and to his many many friends and co-workers.

Fly, Fly to the stars and beyond.  Enjoy the journey my love!
