Mr. Cowan was born Thursday, March 16, 1944, in Crockett County, Tennessee, the son of the late Ruby Hill Cowan and Edgar Cowan, Jr. He was a member of New Life Apostolic Church. Mr. Cowan retired from Interface Flooring after 29 years. He loved country music and making people laugh.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Cowan; his step daughter, Kim Rowlett; his grandchildren, Ethan and Emily Rowlett; his children, Paula, Ray, Jr. and Ruby; and his dog Rex.
