"Becky", as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was born in Lumpkin, GA and was the daughter of Mr. Frank Lewis of Huntsville, AL, and the late Mrs. Carrie Carter Powell. She was a 1975 graduate of Stewart County High School and obtained her Bachelors degree from Paine College in 1979. She was a counselor and social worker with New Horizon, and was a member of the Georgia Association of Social Workers. She was also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Other than her mother, she was preceded in death by a son, Jason T. Lewis, and a beloved stepfather, Mr. Aaron Powell.

Surviving her departure with cherished memories include: her father, Frank Lewis (Lois); her loving and devoted brothers, Keith Powell (Pamela), Jamie Powell (Melanie), Eric Powell and Eddie B. Powell (Sharmia); a half sister, Bertha Jenkins (James); two nieces and four nephews, Yasmine, Diane, Majied, Nasim, Jamondis, and Aaron; an aunt, Mary Moore; other relatives and friends.
