Though I am still reeling from the sudden death of my dear friend, Rebecca, I am humbled and touched by her time here with us. For those of you who don’t know me, I am Rebecca's childhood friend, Tom. We’ve been friends since the first day of middle school. I’ll never forget how she sat across from me at lunch. I was so worried I’d be sitting alone, but she was quick to welcome me into her friend group. As we all know, Rebecca was a kind and caring friend. She never turned down the chance to meet new people, travel somewhere new, or be there when we needed her. Her positivity was an inspiration for everyone she met. She was a friend to many, and we will all miss her every day. Thank you for everything, Rebecca.

Rebecca and I have been best friends for as long as I could remember. She was there through school, college, and all of the years after. It didn’t matter how long we’d been apart, we would always pick up right where we left off anytime we were together. Rebecca was the kind of friend that had my back no matter what. I remember getting stranded when my car broke down on night after work while in college together. Rebecca picked up the phone immediately and was the first one there. That was the kind of compassionate person she was. Even though Rebecca’s death was sudden, her impact cannot be contained in her short lifetime. Her memory will live on with me, her family, and her friends. If she was here with us today, I know she’d be smiling. I am so grateful to have known her.

It is with great sadness that I have to write this. When my sister, Rebecca passed away unexpectedly, it was devastating, but I immediately began to put some words on paper. Writing this eulogy to my sister has helped me deal with the grief and I hope it can help you too.

My sister and I were close in age; she was only 3 years older than me. Because of this we shared a lot of the same friends and were very close. Rebecca was a very bright girl who was successful at whatever she attempted. She excelled at school and graduated from high school with honors and went on to earn a degree from Fire Servic Collage. She loved her job and always worked very hard to educate herself.

Even though my sister was a brilliant person who was very strong willed I always looked out for her. I was happy to help her whenever she needed me, even though she was usually determined to solve problems on her own.

Rebecca was also a professional runner.

My sister was a hard worker but enjoyed her free time. You could often find her in her organic vegetable garden or out with her friends shopping. She loved her family and friends very much.

It is so sad that Rebecca'ss life ended so early in such a tragic way. It is hard to accept that she will no longer be with us. She had a loving family and friends and a brilliant career. No one was prepared for this tragedy and it can be difficult to understand how life works sometimes. Take solace in knowing that Rebecca is now in heaven. Her memory will live on in our hearts forever. We will all be proud of her accomplishments forever and will never forget how wonderful a person she was.
