Vincent “Roy” Herron was born on August 14, 1955 at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles, California. He was the middle child of Adelaide Pearl DeFrantz Herron and Vincent Herron. Roy grew up in Altadena before his family moved to Canoga Park. He graduated from Canoga Park High School in 1973 and attended Pierce College for two years.

At an early age, Roy showed a propensity for the arts including music, theatre, and drawing. As a young man, and well into his adulthood, he was always drawing cartoons and various portraits. As an adult, his artistic aptitude was expressed through his proficiency on the guitar playing his favorite Beatles tunes. He was a free-spirit and wasn’t afraid to march to his own beat. One of his greatest joys was riding his motorcycles up and down the coast in the sunshine.

In addition to a love for the arts, Roy was a natural salesman and had an extraordinary work ethic. He founded his company, Lifetime Exteriors, when he moved to Bakersfield over 30 years ago. Prior to starting his own company, he had been a salesman for Premier Construction for 12 years. Throughout his years in business, Roy received numerous accolades and recognitions for being a top producer due to his significant sales numbers.

Roy’s pride and joy was his daughter, and only child, Denise Adele Herron, otherwise known as “Niecy.” The two had a remarkable bond. And while she was his only biological child, Roy opened his heart and home to Denise’s close friends who became ‘his girls’ and affectionately referred to him as “Pops.”He would often entertain them by telling jokes or performing songs, or take them for an adventure on the water and enjoy time on the boat or jet skis.

There was no one who wanted to be the life of the party more than Roy. If there was a party he was dancing, or as he called it “getting jiggy with it” or “tightening up,” and if there was music on, he was singing along. He enjoyed karaoke with his family and friends, and was always the center of attention. And while he preferred to be around people, he also enjoyed relaxing at home after a long day and catching up on his favorite shows.

Roy had a radiant, welcoming smile, and would approach you for the first time like he’d known you for years. Everyone was a friend to Roy, he simply knew no strangers. He had a great sense of humor and would never miss an opportunity to tell a joke. His avid love for people, combined with his big heart, allowed him to be a source of strength and support for many during their times of need.

On January 4, 2021, Roy passed away peacefully in Santa Clarita, California while surrounded by his loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Grant Herron and his parents Adelaide & Vincent Herron. His beautiful life will be forever cherished and live on through his daughter, Denise Herron, sister Lena Bullock, brother Richard Albert Herron, sister-in-law Tamiko Herron, two grandchildren Tahj and Tahari Skinner, his “right-hand” & dear friend, Barbara Swedblom, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
