Grandpa Rex

February 16, 2014

Grandpa Rex

I never really got to say the proper good bye or even really a good bye. His soul may have left this earth but he will always be in my heart and on my mind. He was funny, loved to joke and was an amazing cook. Grandpa Rex I will miss you. His soul may have left this earth but he will always be in my heart and on my mind. He was funny, loved to joke and was an amazing cook. You will live on for generations to come because I will tell my kids and they will tell there's kid about how funny you are and how you are an amazing cook.  Where do I start? There are so many funny stories & memories tell about Grandpa Rex. One of his favorite holiday was Christmas because that’s when the family would get to gather and he could cook up some of his chilly and make some of his famous cheese dip and we would have a good old time laughing and telling stories. He also has a love for cars.  Here is as story that happened the morning of his birthday 2014 and one week after he died I had a dream that I went to his house with my family. He opened the door and greeted us with some jokes and let us in and had made us this whole meal. Then he sat down at the table with us too eat and once he was finished he diapered. It was as if he was not ready to go until he inter tainted us one last time.

A Trip Through the Corn Fields

February 3, 2014

Bob and I will always remember the trip to the Frog Follies car show in Evansville, Indiana. Rex led the way with Janet as his co-pilot. It was a long trip. We traveled many lonely roads without seeing any other cars and crossed the borders of a few states more than once. At times we were surrounded on either side of the road by the very tallest corn fields we had ever seen. We were getting worried about running out of gas and perhaps ever eating again!

Finally we reached our destination and learned that Rex had told Janet that although he was lost he was not turning around and that she needed to check the maps and find him a way to get him out of this mess. And, it worked. This is just one story of many trips through parking lots and cemetaries with Rex.

I didn't know Rex very well, but what I did know is that he was a very generous man with a huge heart. Along with Janet, they dressed up as Santa and Mrs. Claus for several years for my daughter Gracee, who has a muscle disease , and her sister Lindsey. Gracee can't just go see Santa anywhere because it is a little bit difficult for us, so Rex and Janet came to Gracee's grandma Betty's house and brought her and Lindsey awesome gifts and they got their very own private Santa show. It meant so much to us that they would take time to come see us and hold Gracee, make her feel special and make her smile :) we will forever be grateful for the time they took out for us and our girls.

T-Rex

January 23, 2014

I first met Rex when Bud Martin my Budley introduced me to Rex and Janet at
Lamberts when we met for dinner.  Loved both of them immediately. Rex always
called me by my name and always ask how I was doing. He cared. It was not just a saying to Rex. Everyone had so much fun when Rex was present because he loved to laugh and pull jokes on others randomly. We enjoyed the payback as often as possible. Every Christmas a item from their home was always wrapped and placed under their Christmas tree from Santa. Loved his great chilli and the Christmas wrapping for those in need. Rex always made sure every child was richly blessed with many gifts from the car club and Santa and Mrs. Clause.  Rex was a huge help when Bud became ill and the day Bud passed away Rex was the first to be there for me and Dusty on that day and I will never forget his compassion for Bud and the bond that the two had as friends. Rex will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope that everyone will take what Rex has taught us about caring for others and pass it on with a good deed to another.
