RG, life goes on, but it just isn't the same without you. Forever loved and forever missed,
Abbie
This memorial website was created in memory of our brother, Robert Gordon “R.G.” Arneson. He will live forever in our hearts.
Robert Gordon “R.G.” Arneson passed away in his sleep due to complications from diabetes at home on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in Lakewood, Colorado at the age of 50. R.G. was born June 11, 1966 to Richard Glen Arneson and Nancy Tucker Arneson in Denver, Colorado.
The Arneson family moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1979. R.G. loved growing up in North Platte, and was often heard saying “Moving to North Platte was one of the best things that ever happened to me.” R.G. was active in many things during his teen years, but his passion was football. R.G. graduated from North Platte High School in 1985, and then went on to The University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity, and was an offensive lineman for the Nebraska Cornhusker football team.
After graduating from UNL in 1990, R.G. had a successful 26 year career in sales, marketing, and customer service. He lived in various cities over the years, including Kansas City, Northern California, North Platte, and for the last eight years, in Denver. His most recent employment was with Taylor of the Rockies.
While living in Northern California, R.G. met and married Jennifer Irene Reed. Their two sons, Reed and Gavin, were the pride and joy of R.G.’s life. Reed is a freshman at Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, and Gavin is a senior at Clear Creek High School in Evergreen, Colorado.
R.G. was a man with many friends and admirers, a quick wit and a great sense of humor, and was also known for his straightforward, genuine nature. You always knew how R.G. felt, what he stood for, and he was always up for a conversation on any level concerning just about any subject. There are many people and friends, far and wide, who were influenced in some way by R.G. R.G.’s passions included Cornhusker and college football, furthering his spirituality, the people and history of the state of Nebraska, fine food and dining, entertaining guests in his home, golfing, travel, NASCAR, gardening, and the great outdoors.
R.G. is survived by his sons, Reed Gordon Arneson and Gavin Tucker Arneson, both of Lakewood, Colorado; his father, Richard Glen Arneson of Parker, Colorado; his brother, Tucker Glen Arneson and sister-in-law, Julia Allen Arneson and their daughters, Sara Arneson and Catherine Arneson, all of Fort Collins, Colorado; his sister, Abbie Gail Arneson-Titze, and her daughter Caroline Titze and son Samuel Titze of Mitchell, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Tucker Arneson of Denver, Colorado.
A Memorial Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Faith Mountain Church, 12344 W Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado 80228.
Following the service, a Remembrance Celebration in honor of R.G. took place at Baldoria on the Water, 146 Van Gordon Street, in Lakewood from 2:30-5:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Fund has been established to help with the immediate and ongoing needs of the boys. The fund has been set up at SANDHILLS STATE BANK. My Uncle passed away yesterday. I cried and yelled at myself for not saying goodbye. It was one of the worst moments of my life. I miss him so much. I know he would want me to go on with my life, so that is what I will do. I will always love him. He showed me you can be anything you want. I love you Uncle R.G. I will always miss you. Good bye. I know you will always love me. Bye R.G.
