His Life

Silent and Strong

April 12, 2016

Our father never looks for praises and is never one to boast.
We always see him quietly working for those he loves the most,
He seldom speaks about his dreams and his wants are very few.
And most of the time his worries will go unspoken too.
He is our firm foundation and he is always there through all our storms of life.
We hold on to his sturdy life in times of stress and strife,
And he is a true friend we can turn to in good times and in bad.
We feel that Dad's presence never left us nor do we feel it gone now.
Our world is a little less bright since we all miss his conversation, his counsel and his smile.
But his spirit is stilll with us in our body, heart, mind and soul.
In heaven he will always be close by to listen, to protect us and support us when we need it.
We are all immeasurably stronger for having him as our father, and that is all he ever wanted for us.
One of our greatest blessings, the man we call OUR DAD.
We miss you, we love you and we'll talk to you soon.

Only Heaven Knows

There is no greater love than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.

Born in Manila , Philippines, Ricardo (Ric) was the pride and joy of his parents, Ceferino and Concepcion. He was the youngest of five children, Ric was very close to his brother and three sisters. Having received his early childhood education at the Ateneo de Manila, he graduated from La Salle High School. Ric was known for his passion in Architecture, which he pursued at the University of Sto Tomas. He met his soulmate, Maria Teresa (Tess) in the late 1950's and married her in 1957. Faced with both the challenges of managing a furniture business as well as designing new homes that were unique and ahead of the times. In his profession, his colleagues have nothing but praise for his work.  Integrity, selflessness and hardwork were his lessons by example. As a father, he sought to provide well for his family. His family meant everything to him. Ric and Tess were blessed with 9 children and their spouses, 24 grand-children and 3 great-grandchildren. In 1992 they left their beloved Phiippines to make a home in the United States of America, settling in California. In his last days, Ric became closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. By 2013, he was diagnosed with prostrate cancer. His strong faith in God and deep courage held him through until the very end. Always submitting everything to the Divine Will, he surrendered himself peacefully as only Heaven knows.
