Richard A. (Rock) Bledsoe, 59 (February 24, 1958)  of Wauconda, Ill. died on July 12, 2017 after a sudden illness. He was born in Hammond, IN., growing up in New Lenox, Il, the only son of the late Richard J. and Mary R. (McKinnies) Bledsoe. He was a 1976 graduate of Lincoln Way High School in New Lenox, later attending Milliken University in Decatur, Il. and Loyola University of Chicago.

Rich Bledsoe was most recently employed by Hi-Grade Welding & Manufacturing, LLC. in Schaumburg, IL.  The majority of his professional career he spent honing his engineering abilities in Computer Aided Design of which he was very proud.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed music, dancing and karaoke.  He loved his high school alumni get-togethers.  His love of animals led him to be a warrior for homeless and abused animals.  Most of all, he enjoyed serving his church, in which he was very active in family history, and volunteering at the Bishop’s Storehouse.  When Rich fell ill, he was in central Illinois delivering the book of Mormon to prisoners at the Decatur Correctional Center and at Logan Correctional Center.

His greatest accomplishment was being a good dad to his 2 daughters that he loved dearly, Amanda Bledsoe of Round Lake Heights and Alyssa Bledsoe of Wauconda.  He also leaves behind a beloved sister, Susan of Chicago, IL., and several cousins.

A Celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15th, at 4pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 480 N. Walkup Road, Crystal Lake, IL 60014, Bishop Kent Connell presiding.  Memorial gifts in Rich’s memory can be made to the Missionary Fund at his church (address above) or to Sav-A-Pet Adoption Center, P.O. Box 266, Grayslake, IL. 60030.

Today I think of my big brother Richard Rock Bledsoe. It has been 7 years since his passing in the wee morning hours and Heaven became his Home. Choices he made in his life created distance between him and his family but that never broke the bond of having each other's back. This says it best "I may fight with my siblings. But once you lay a finger on them, you’ll be facing me.” As he got older he called me for his challenges. And he no longer wanted to live alone, he was afraid to do so.He worked so hard to try to give his kids everything he could, even though his health was failing. Although he never woke after his stroke he knew I was there and he responded to me at the hospital during his Neuro eval when I told him to "give me the finger" he pointed his index finger.

I am guardian to his kitty Princess and was the guardian of Phantom who joined him in Heaven due to cancer.

You are missed my brother. Especially when he told one of his corny jokes and then gave his cackling laugh. He would have been 66.

Brother- the person who holds all the same memories, shares all the same laughs, knows all the same tears, and relates in a way no one else can and no other person will.

You are missed, my brother.
