ForeverMissed

On the morning of July 21, 2022, Richard Everest Boccelli passed away peacefully at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA, after a very long battle of Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) at the age of 72. Born on Tuesday, July 26, 1949, he was the eldest son of the late Phillip J. Boccelli and the late Kathryn A. Boccelli, of West Chester, PA.

Growing up in Springfield, PA, Rick attended Springfield High School. He then went on to Cheyney University, graduating with a degree in Education. This led to Rick becoming an English high school teacher. After some time, Rick returned to school to pursue a degree in Restaurant and Hospitality services. From there, he began a 35-year career managing numerous stores for the Wawa Corporation. After Wawa, he worked at AIG Insurance until he retired.

Rick loved history and enjoyed reading history books and watching the History channel. He also enjoyed cooking (usually his mom’s recipes) and enjoyed watching cooking shows. He also immensely enjoyed music and was both a singer and guitarist in a band at one time. Another passion was watching old TV shows, especially Gun Smoke! We all know his greatest viewing pleasure came from watching the game show, Jeopardy! Rick was a dedicated fan, and his TV was faithfully tuned in at 7:00 p.m. For those of us who were there at 7:00 pm, we knew to never call him or touch his remote during that time. His skill for knowing all the answers to the questions was astonishing. His mind was a wealth of knowledge!

Rick is survived by his loving children who he adored so much: Michelle Colburn, Christopher Izzo, Shannon Boccelli, Kathryn Boccelli and son in Law Marco Peticca. He is also survived by his brother John Boccelli (Michelle), his sisters Lynne Sarvis, Debbie Frederick (John), Kathy Baldwin (Chuck), and Jayne Scotti (Peter), and his Goddaughter, Kimberly Ergle. He adored his 8 grandchildren: Anthony, Nathan, Antonio, Kenzie, Alex, Joshua, Isabella and Matty. He also had 1 great granddaughter Anaisa. Rick was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Kathryn Boccelli, who he loved as a sister.

One of his favorite past times was babysitting his grandchildren and reading them stories. He thoroughly enjoyed being the uncle to many nieces and nephews. His dog, Princess, had a special place in his heart and surely has met her over the Rainbow Bridge.

He was an amazing man with a wonderful sense of humor, even until the very end. He always looked at the bright side of life with a contagious smile, something we all should take with us. He always cared and thought of others first with no hesitation or judgement. No matter what, his family always came first.

Now, he can finally enjoy a game of Jeopardy with no distractions. He will be deeply missed by all who crossed his path. We love you so much and will miss your ability to see the goodness in each person you came in contact with.

Ricky, whenever we would leave and tell you we would be back, you would always say “I’ll leave the light on.” We know you will continue to do that for us.

Dad played the bass and he'd rather you listen to 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago while reading this and remembering him. Trust me on this, we've discussed it on numerous occasions.
