Hi Betty, I saw Dick's obituary in the decatur tribune. I am sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in 2015 to dimentia. I never knew where you guys retired. I think of you guys whenever I go by sunset street. I remember remodeling your basement. You guys were one of my favorite customers. I remember your dog spike. I'm still doing construction but I'm going to retire in a few more years. I'm 63 in July. Sorry for your loss. God bless both of you. Steve Shepherd. 217 -620-694
one of my favorite memories of dick was during his first years in decatur,.....
with such a small staff we had many arguments and we took turns walking into his office to bitch...
after i would present my case on why i didn't want to do something or be assigned to a different story dickie would lean into me and say
'jerry
i don't know if we can get along without you
but we are willing to try!"
One of my best memories of my Dad was on December 18, 2016. The Cowboys were playing Tampa Bay in Dallas. Debbie and I were in Dallas because our daughter Christy was graduating from TCU in Ft. Worth and it was Christmas time. Thanks to our older daughter Ashley, I was able to get two tickets to the game on the 50 yard line, in the 9th row, on the Cowboys side! It was amazing! Dad had never been to a Cowboy game so he and I got there early so we could walk around and take in the massive stadium. We had hot dogs and peanuts and did all of the the fun things you do at a game. It was a great game! The Cowboys won 26 to 20! We both had a blast! I took lots of pictures and Ashley made us each a coffee table book.
I'll never forget that night, a true father son memory.
